But surely everybody on here came to be on here (i.e. Meridian owners) largely due to positive reviews of Meridian equipment in magazines. I imagine some people might wander into a dealer's with a wad of cash & just ask for "a great system" but they must be very few & far between. The majority will at least have their searches narrowed down by magazine reviews.

Plastic buttons are ok? That's fine if they're fine to you but they won't be fine to everyone shopping for an £11k disc player; some will want a player that feels like it's been machined from a billet of unobtanium & that's their prerogative when shopping in that price bracket.
