I think that Meridian expect you to use an Optical to digital convertor to use the optical output of the TV Unfortunately, that's another way of saying it doesn't do what I want. I was looking at this to remove clutter, not create more

Assuming that it works the same as the Distributor3,
does this mean that a minimum system could be:
F80 remote -> MS200 -> Distributor1 -> DSP3200/M6
Giving the 3 source buttons on the remote as Sooloos/Roon, digital in and analog in, basic transport controls on the remote and RS232 control?

Cool, will the RS232 port broadcast status info, like the DSP5000 / 3100's do? (i.e. volume / source)
I've been chipping away at automation, currently have a 12V trigger (G96 - active when I select a source that needs the TV powered/rear room lights off) and the RS232 port monitored on my DSP5000's to read which source selected and current volume. (I did have basic control as well, but lost that code when I switched processors and it's going to be a pain to recreate).
I don't suppose there are any lines on the RS232 port that can be used to determine whether 'standby' is selected?

I know you can request status on the processors. I will have to check the protocol for the distributor series

Can it be configured via MConfig as a Source? I have a non M source into 8000SE and I would like to set the 8000SE at a standard level of 87 on startup. Using an 861 just to set level at startup is overkill, so if Distributor 1 can do that it would be great.

A Rasperry Pi or Arduino and couple of lines of code will do the job if you like experimenting.

At that price it's worth a punt to see if it's a suitable up to date replacement for the ADC in the 568.2 (for an LP input) without having to go for a G6*.
