Sorry to ask, but I am seeing more and more HD621 being sold, may I ask why?

HD621 seems more prominent in the classified adverts

Hi,

Well I can't speak for other sellers but I'm selling all my Meridian equipment, one of which items is the HD621.

Regards

Maybe because, due to the recent announcement of a price reduction from M, current owners assume a replacement is due "any day now" and they want to sell up before the pre-owned value plummets?

There's certainly still a good market for them given the rate at which they are being snapped up.

I think that must be it. The HD621 isn't compatible with 4K video sources so an updated version would make sense in the modern market. Nice trade in terms would be very welcome Meridian!

Cinema: Meridian 271, 3 x DSP640 (behind screen), 4 x DSP320 (in-ceiling), 4 x DSP3100 (surrounds), 2 x AC12 (interface). 2 x Perlisten D12s subs, Lyngdorf MP40 processor. DT 145" 2.35 AT screen. Sony VW870 projector & S-T lens, Lumagen Radiance Pro.
Lounge: Roon, NUC, Kef LS50 Wireless + 2 x REL Gibraltar-2 subs

I don't see any need for a Meridian surround system in my future plans, IF I want surround I will follow Cliff's lead and purchase a Marantz/Denon surround processor with or without atmos and use it with my Dynaudio surround speakers in a dedicated cinema room, primarily though I am going two channel.

I might be starting to hatch similar plans myself crazy

It is a much more difficult and expensive decision if you have DSP speakers in your HT room, As Notarf and I appear to have.

Primary: 818v3+ID41, M6 stereo pair, M SpeakerLink cabling, Sonos+96kHz Cullen, silver DSW
HT: Marantz prepro, 271, DSP3300, 8K SE FL/FR pair, DSP M6x2, DSP320x4 (ceiling), black DSW, 520 RL/RR rear in-walls
Living Room: G65, 640 L/R in-walls, UHD722, MS600
Vac. Home: G61, HD621, 4xDSP3100, DSP3100HC

I sort of wonder whether the 818v3 is partly to blame. A lot (well, some at least) seem to be going back to 2.0 systems on the back of it.

Sooloos, Roon, G series (with LPS upgrade), 800 series (with LPS upgrade), HD621, AC200, Prime and PS, DSPs old and new.

Purdeys, Moke, Leica, 'Blad. Only the best.

Meridian lost the high-end multichannel home theater a long time ago. Only a larger engineering team and product marketing focused on HT and licensing leading technology will allow it to catch up. Still sounds great for audio and Dolby/DTS but woeful for RC and height/atmos support etc. hopefully for a M. next-gen processor to reward patience. Suspect partnering with Dolby easier to do than DTS but would still like to see both next-gen codecs supported in next HT platform. also would like to see ID40/ID41 support multichannel for Roon/Sooloos (and yes, multichannel and stereo DSD streamed to ID41 would be great).

So why don't they offer the ultra-low jitter of the 8x8 in the revised 861? And add a new HD621 for Ultra BD?

Well, good luck with that. I also had that "brilliant" idea about a year ago, I sold my G68J and bought a slightly used Marantz 7702 with all those bells and whistles like HDMI, HD Formats etc.

This was THE WORST investment within last few years I made in this hobby. I literally couldn´t believe how bad the Marantz sound in compare to G68J. It sounded dull with bad macro dynamics, even if I listened to HD material via Wireworld HDMI it just sounded compressed and boring. It was the first time whne my wife noticed any difference and told me that "now it sounds like an old kitchen radio".

Thank God I sold it without any problems and any financial loss to some poor guy who probably due to lack of any comparison, loved it.

Very similar with the Emotiva UMC-1.
I bought an old 561 which literally moped the floor with 7702, than 568.s2 and now I have my old 861 which I adore smile

I give you guys some advice, before you decide to switch to Marantz/Denon (all the same stuff actually), and before you sell your Meridian, first give the Marantz a try it in your own system for a few days. You might be very disappointed. I very much doubt that the latest units with Atmos will sound better... let´s just hope so...

Anyway, for me it was a very eye opening experience..but of course YMMV.
