Hmm. I added Enya's latest a month or so back and thought that it sounded rather nice... Wonder if TIDAL has been streaming the un-decoded MQA all this time?

Wonder if TIDAL has been streaming the un-decoded MQA all this time? I tried several of the 2L albums on TIDAL as soon as I had MQA decoding capability and none of them were MQA.

I tried playing several tracks of Dark Sky Island through Tidal on my recently upgraded 808v6 and 8000SE's and only get 44 (upsampled to MHR 88). I have a hifi subscription, but have been unable to find any option of "master".
Is there something else I can try to test this out?

What I mean is that the album is MQA, but it's not being streamed - to the HiFi subscription tier at least - with the necessary metadata for an MQA decoder to recognize and decode it.

Interesting comment on Computer Audiophile by Tidal's Pal Bratelund in response to speculation about what Tidal are doing. We have been focusing on making Exclusive Mode and WASAPI work and now it does. Speculations above on content are... well... speculations and not analysis.
We would not just take redbook and batch convert without any QC just like that. Even though that would speed things up and give a high volume of files. But that would be missing the point about MQA completely. It's important to take the time it takes to do properly. Or else it would just be another codec.

FYI I got this email from 7Digital this morning: We are still currently working on getting the MQA's ready for our site but realistically will be available towards the end of this month. Hopefully this will mean a lot more choice and variety in this early phase of MQA releases. I am really hoping for some classic jazz, rock and other older analog recordings. Wayne

Response from MQA on when more hardware might start coming... As you can image ‘behind closed doors’ we are working with an extremely large number of delivery partners. MQA is a new technology so roll-out has to be controlled and we’re still a growing team J
More ‘hardware ready’ news in addition to new MQA music will come very soon.

What a strange world we seem to have entered via MQA. We are no longer in the audio lab or listening room or even studio: now we are rendering full fat in white gloves. This must be the authentic sound of the abattoir.

I think that it is also worth mentioning that MQA have triumphantly met one of Meridian's objectives: the MQA files are very easy and quick to download. This alone might help it win market penetration.

I am desperate for MQA jazz too and purchased that CD. I'd say jazz only in name. More like easy listening/folk.
