Mac or Windows, VK?
I found rather than disconnecting as the updater suggested switching the unit on and off worked.
Took me three goes on OSX.
Sooloos, Roon, G series (with LPS upgrade), 800 series (with LPS upgrade), HD621, AC200, Prime and PS, DSPs old and new.
Purdeys, Moke, Leica, 'Blad. Only the best.

I also bypassed the Prime Power Supply. It took me a few tries as well in OS X.

lucky you! I am getting the same error message as Soundserge!!! To say it is frustrating is a bit of an understatement.. AAAAAARRRRGGHHHHH

Mainly Mac. Prime has always played fine to it.
Removed PPSU completely, but no joy.
On Windows, couldn't find the device either, even though Windows picked it up.
Am thinking that I have a very early model...

I have an early Explorer2 ... number 21. Was having the same thoughts, VK... I hope they can sort it out remotely. If not I may just explode...

So, I assume the unmarked LED next to the 4X is the MQA authenticated status light? I played a 2L sample FLAC MQA file and the 4X and the light to the right of it both lit up, not really blu-ish but white. Sounded amazing but I guess Off-topic!

My first attempt was on OS X Yosemite 10.10.5. I just tried on Windows 7 running in a VirtualBox VM. While I was able to install the v.1.68-19 driver and get Windows to see the Explorer 2, I get the same error message as I do on OS X when I try to update the firmware.

Serge, I have same error message on Explorer 2. My serial number is 21. Is yours early too?

Well this is an anti-climax...
No joy on my MacBook Pro, Win 7 laptop, or Win 8.1 VM running on my Mac. In all cases, the uploader won't recognise the connected Prime, and with Windows, the drivers won't install as that software can't recognise the Prime either.
