Wow,
Not everyday that you see a manufacturer cut prices by 40%/33% on average. Are the adjustments the same for North America, or is there a currency adjustment in there? I always have felt the G55/G57 amps are some of the best in the market, but was just brutally expensive, new. In the end, M gear must have been hard to move, when your trying to move DSP's. "Oh, and you also need one of these at $$$", to get most from your DSP's, must be tough. Given the fairly muted response on this board to the G65, that isn't a surprise.

Difficult not to proceed with caution at this point with any of this gear? Especially anything where you might be expecting hardware/software update?

James, are there other items on the US list, not listed here? Not surprised 818 or 808 are not listed, as their the most up to date and relevante items M sells today. Though a 40% price cut on the 818 would certainly move more metal! grin

Interesting,

I think the commentary is interesting. I assume this comes from Meridian North America. About the most honest I have seen a manufacturer be in the space. Oh Meridian, you are an enigma.

Quote
As Meridian America continues to grow our sales and support efforts in the US, we have been evaluating the market on additional ways we can increase our business and get Meridian into as many customer’s homes as possible. We have responded with key products, our Design and Specification Service, new solutions for installation, and additional control solutions; all of which have had very positive impacts on our business. We have also been evaluating our product pricing, and have decided to make some very positive changes to help you offer Meridian products to more potential buyers. By making these changes, we believe we further strengthen our value proposition, and we can significantly increase our sales rate.

Given that we have had a year of being unsure regarding "what is coming?" and when "MQA will be made available?", I would guess there must have been significant impact on Meridian sales. Other than speakers, any one with an inkling of all the discussions on this forum would have been keeping their wallets firmly shut. I'm sure Meridian are pushing behind the scenes as hard as they possibly can to get things moving and enable dealers to start shifting units. I guess they have a clear incentive to move any existing stocks asap.

I could be completely wrong and Meridian's cash flow might be very healthy for all I know.

Meridian have lowered the pricing for many good reasons.

For some, the new prices mean that these aspirational products are now at a price point which may have been out of reach from others.

Cheers,
Ian.

I don't mean to be difficult but can you say who has confirmed that the MS200 is to be replaced and where?

This makes Meridian's abandonment of Bristol all the more bizarre.

That is not much use if your potential end customers do not know you exist.

It's a bit like Riemann's Hypothesis - most people believe it to be true but nobody can prove it.

There's quite a lot of chat on the subject - try the "MS200 MQA Support" thread among others.

Sorry I can't be more specific.

This is great news for our Norwegian consumers as the £ has gone +40% against NOK.

And these prices it's great to get even more into the universe of Meridian.
