I don't think EBA on or off makes any difference in MRC measurements and/or calculations. I think what you really want to explore is how do your 8Ks sound in stereo without the subwoofers.
The config program is going to make you run MRC again if you change your speaker layout, but, if you haven't done this, you should try setting all your speakers to full range and your sub channel to LFE only under the music preset. Run MRC again, make sure EBA is on and sample stereo music in Direct and Stereo. They should sound identical and you should absolutely love it.
If your 8Ks are not optimally positioned for bass response in your room, then in the music preset, you can set your center and surrounds to small with a low crossover point and select bass heavy for the sub channel. When doing so, the 8Ks and the subs will handle bass and you can get better bass distribution throughout your listening area. Now you will hear a difference between Direct and Stereo. The subs are off for Direct and they are on for Stereo. You must make sure the subs and mains are in phase and that you have to use trial and error to set the distance for the subs so they fire at the same time as the 8Ks
The caveat here is that with the extra bass generators (your subs), the effect of EBA in the 8Ks is compromised.
