I also see that those who own them are selling them off and going to QNAP?

I am planning on upgrading my 808v5 shortly to v6 and with the MD600 I was looking to getting into streaming and also storage then moving into MQA with the appropriate speaker upgrades in the future. My plan was to experience streaming through the MD600 then move up. With the concerns that I see mentioned here is there a possibility that the MD600 could conceivably be able to take SSD's for drives hoping that that would help with drive failure?

Just a thought. Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated.
I am not well informed but have some painful experience on this subject.

Meridian do not monitor the condition of drives in MD600 units.
Catastrophic failures of a single drive in an MD600 should be conveyed to the user by an indicator LED 4 (left) or 5 (right) on the MD600 front panel.
However a data related partial failure of one drive may not be indicated by LED in this Raid 1 application.
This, not reported, data failure could remain dormant for months in your system if you do not check synchronisation and parity of the two MD600 drives until a catastrophic drive failure occurs.
At best you will loose data loss/corruption affected files, in the worst case you could loose your whole library.

Just my user experience, but with the knowledge, help and experience of the great Ratbert, in my case after some 4 weeks intensive interrogation and data recovery of stored files, disaster was averted.

Do not believe the vague data sheets.

However MD600 is still a great product
