Thanks Mark
There is discussion on AVF following the Amazon Fire TV review and a chap on there is getting Dolby Digital from his if he selects it manually - I thought I would point this out to you to try.

OK, update. If I bypass the HDFIX22 and go direct from the Amazon FireHD to the HD621 I get Dolby Digital and my 861 switches to Cinema mode. With the HDFIX22 inline, I can only get PLIIx Movie. Looking at the manual it looks like the HDFIX22 supports DTS MA/TrueHD over HMDI but only 2-channel PCM, which is probably the cause of the problem Will let you know how I get on with the HDFury!

I have an HDFury, allowing me to route audio to HD621 and picture in 4k to TV, as the HD621 doesn't do the 4k for me (it then gives lots of artifacts).
drawbacks: - losing the HDMI switch capability of the HD621 - losing lipsync
So, although it is not pretty, it does the trick for me.

Would love to know why you're not getting 4K through cleanly...
HD621 Firmware? Source? Display?

Me too! It looks like a bandwidth issue, but as I don't have access to any diagnostic or performance stats on the HD621 box I cant confirm.

I am using a new 4K / UHD Roku 4 with HDMI out and am not getting sound or picture when I hook up to the 861 via the HD621. Therefore, I am going directly to TV and then using optical out on TV to 861. What am I doing wrong. Would a HD Fury help?

HDCP 2.2 content protection?
The HD621 is not 2.2 compatible so the source won't supply it data. This is what the HDFIX22/HDFury helps with. BUT it might be worth checking whether you can pass 4K video, eg a YouTube video through the HD621 first, before buying one...

Installed the HDFury Integral this morning. Not quite as plug-n-play as the HDFIX22 as it required the use of a GUI on a laptop to adjust some of the EDID parameters, however it DOES pass 5.1 DD from the Amazon FireHD and would seem to pass PCM audio too (to be confirmed).
However, I was getting the occasional pause/stutter with UHD material, but I *think* it was due to streaming issues, rather than being caused by the HDFury.
Previously, when watching UHD via the HDFIX22 there were none of the pause/stutter issues.
More testing is needed...
The other big plus for the HDFury is the team are actively listening to their audience and regularly updating the firmware.
