Definitely avoid the VW purple or blue motion, low emissions diesel versions unless you are prepared for an imminent product recall leaving you speaker less again.

I was going to suggest that very colour!
My next pair of 5k's I fix up are going to get the same colour. 😊
At that kind of price point the laws of diminishing returns is very much at play, that said Nick's pair of 8ks I listened to when I picked up his C10 sounded better than any other speakers I have ever heard! The delivery was just so realistic in terms of timbre and imaging. MQA will only make things better.
Buy them!!

Not sarcastic at all. I've done a heap of listening. Having said that fair point having made a Meridian commitment a long time ago it's been a heap of listening to 8k's...
I just find the biggest shift between the 72's and 8k's to be the imaging and positioning of every instrument. I find them staggering. That being said I do think room dependent. Agree 8k's aren't as "easy" in all rooms.
I don't think it's a regular comparison with "other speakers that price" as the DSP journey is a system, so if I'm changing amps, crossovers, dacs and speakers it's a chunk more upheaval than just speakers...
Agreed it's an absolutely massive chunk of change. And unfortunately having never worked as a premier league footballer or managed a career in banking this is a huge leap for me. It's my divorce present to myself. And having loved the M sound since I first heard it when I was 20 years old, and still getting blown away every time I listen to them, I'm quite looking forward to it....

FWIW, here's a vote for the deep blue. Mine are a midnight blue that almost look black in less than direct light. A nice change from the standard look. I'll try to get a photo up on the other thread. I fully agree with your comments about 8000 sound quality, a game changer when I was able to move up from 7200s 16 months ago.

Graphite center is a neutral color so I prefer blue as Jim mentions. Check Meridian facebook page as well. or ![[Linked Image from media.tas.zeitpress.com]](http://media.tas.zeitpress.com/articles/images/JH%20Blog%203.jpg)

They're equally troubled by stairs...
The BRG Dalek looks nice.
Sooloos, Roon, G series (with LPS upgrade), 800 series (with LPS upgrade), HD621, AC200, Prime and PS, DSPs old and new.
Purdeys, Moke, Leica, 'Blad. Only the best.

I do think with 1. the style of my room and 2. the clamp rings that a darker colour will sit better in there. Yes, in the dark of watching TV / Movies, they almost go to black and then in light gave a bit of colour. Keep em coming!

I think a purple that's almost black would go well in your room. The VW looks a bit bright to me - something closer to black cherry?
Cheers, Ian

Lots of opinions! Unless you want your new speakers to be a colorful design statement you best choose black. Especially Meridian DSP are powerfull designs by shape and IMO don't need color at all, that is only distraction. Black goes with any interior design and interior color which saves you headaches when you want to make a change (or are kindly asked for by a new GF). Regardless of any light shining on them, they will always be black Well a luxury challenge isn't it? Enjoy! Cheers!
