The same hardware version that the command line interface has at 2.1 for both the ID41 and the MS200? grin

I've managed to get Sooloos to release all my zones. The problem was that in Sooloos two zones were Linked (I had no idea: this must have been a leftover from many months ago). This meant that Sooloos refused to release either/both of them, which I guess is fair enough. Now I am able to play from both systems to the Meridian audio endpoints. Good result!

Roon and Sooloos still behave differently, but this is a design question:

In Sooloos, all the zones on the network are listed as selectable in the zone pull-down, and the re-pairing happens automatically when you select a zone that previously was used by Roon.

In Roon, the un-pairing of a zone results in it being removed from the zone pull-done zones entirely. It then needs to be re-enabled in audio settings before it can be selected from the zone pull-down. Roon needs to allow Sooloos to use the endpoint without losing the pairing entirely.

(For those who are interested, I have posted similar here in the Roon forum, asking Brian to comment on whether they can simplify their end.)

Not sure if I fully get your point re: Roon zones.

I personally prefer that zone use is a two step affair in Roon. Step 1 enable. Step 2 select for play queue mngt.

I tend to agree as this way it is a conscious decision as to which zone to use with which system and simplifies the protocol between the two systems.

In Sooloos, if Roon is using a zone, the zone drops out of the Sooloos list of available zones - at least sometimes. The behaviour is somewhat intermittent; some of the time Sooloos appears able to steal from an active Roon zone and vice-versa, other times a zone in active use via Roon is not accessible through Sooloos until such time as it is released by Roon.

By making a conscious decision, the systems will perform as the user wishes. If the protocol is made too complex, the likely outcome is that the system will perform as some wish but not how others wish, ie no-one will win.

Guys, we must be talking at crossed purposes. I have Roon and Sooloos. I have three zones. I want to be able to play at will music from both systems seamlessly. That's the whole point of Meridian allowing Sooloos and Roon to coexist with the same endpoints.

It almost works: I can now go seamlessly from Roon to Sooloos, but not back again without going into Roon settings.

Maybe your usage and/or expectations are different?

Note, I am only talking about the zones I have selected in Roon. I don't want Roon to enable all possible zones. I just don't want it to forget what I already enabled!

I feel at present that Meridian has done the work on this, so guess this is something for the Roon forum.

I updated to Sooloos v2.477 Build 406 and get an odd error now.
Some songs it plays just fine and some stops at "loading" forever. Can't get it to play certain songs no matter what.

I updated Sooloos and I have Windows 10, which was upgraded from Windows 7. I don't have a touch screen. I don't have any problems.

I did have some at the start, I thought it was my router or and my Airport Extreme.

What happened - Control:PC or Meridian Sooloos Configure wouldn't show up, they did on my iPad and iPhone but not on my PC. After a few reboots I can report all is well and (fingers crossed) all has been well for weeks now smile

Having read this topic I was in serious doubt to perform this Sooloos v2.477 update. I pulled myself together and did it today...it went smooth and easy as usual. No issues cool

cheers!

No problems with update. I have an HP all in one desktop with touchscreen. And a bonus. No more dropouts when listening to Classic FM!

I'm just reporting that the ID41 in my 861v8 is dropping its connection after about half an hour of play. It becomes very unstable at that point. If I leave it alone for awhile, it will play again but flakes out after another half an hour. It was rock solid before the update. I never had a problem.

I've done all the reboots. The zones in my MC600 perform with no problems. Control Mac zones work fine as well.

I've reported the problem to HQ

Regards,
Bill
