I moved my DSP6000s to another room, with no processor, and am running a HDMI switcher that extracts SPDIF and running it directly into the DSP6000s and sounds great for a simple clean stereo setup.
I would like to replace the rears in my main setup with an amp and passive speakers.
Can I hook up an amp and rears via the 800-0A02 card analaog ouput card? I see that it has 4 RCA style outputs. Can two of these be configured for rear left and rear right so I can run them into an amp for passive speakers?
Will the digital volume control on the 861 attenuate these so they are at the appropriate volume paired with my front 8000s and center 5500C?
If all of this is achievable, any recommendation for an affordable amp and speakers that will sound good in this usage scenario?
I could get a pair of DSP5000s from eBay for $2,500 - which would definitely work - but I have some passive speakers I could repurpose so would at least to try that first before I buy a pair of DSP speakers. Additionally, I really need floor standing as the tweeters on the 5000s won't really reach ear level, and I don't want to go to the trouble of mounting them.
Thanks in advance, Andrew
