If that's the case, this has been a standard solution for DSD files in a Sooloos system for years...

That could be the case, but wouldn't it be nice if the new ID41 card in the 818v3 could accept DSD in native format (still within the DoP container) leaving the 818 to do the conversion (to PCM on the digital outputs and straight to analogue on the analogue outputs).

In other words, just like it happens with DSD via SPDIF or USB. At least that is what I understand. Who knows!

Altus, I agree with you 100%. However, I believe that this would require sending 4x sample rates to the ID41. Whether the ID41 in the 818v3 is (a) capable of receiving 4x PCM, and (b) capable of transferring 192k to the new "MQA" input card, are important questions here.

We've received our demo 818v3 and hope to have it up and running later this afternoon so hopefully can comment more on its operation later.

Having downloaded the latest Meridian Configuration program to include 818v3 as a Controller, I can see there aren't any room correction settings available, so it looks like we don't have room correction currently.

Thanks for reporting on the room correction status, Rick. Were you expecting to find room correction?

Room correction had been suggested at conception as a possible inclusion in 818v3.
However it appeared to be dropped from the communications we receive from Meridian during development, so I wasn't actually expecting it to make production versions.
I commented here purely as confirmation for HHs who were hoping for this feature and as the topic had been raised earlier in this thread.
Cheers,

The spec only mentions up to 192 or DoP.

I play my few "DXD" files through my 818v2 already. Either via the ID41, in which case Roon downsamples to 88, or via USB in which case Roon downsamples to 176.

I suspect that with the 818v3 all that will change is that I can play them at 176 through the ID41.

It would of course be interesting to hear the full file. Maybe one day.

John Buchanan posted that DXD is coming via Sooloos.

• We are adding support for albums and sets with mixed-sample-rates.
• MQA. The current system is MQA-aware but during the next few months MQA decoding will be added.

Hardware Roadmap
Our recently announced 818v3 and 808v6 fully support the formats listed above, including native decode of DSD (DoP) and MQA and, as you might expect, there are a number of other announcements coming.

I see, so DXD will not be replayed native 24/352.8KHz but through a realtime or pre-conversion to MQA -> ID41?

Looks like it. Also suggests that DSF files on Sooloos, as well as all other files >96k, will also get the MQA-encapsulation treatment. Probably.
