For the Impatient.

Here is something, sort of relevant, to read while you are waiting.

University of California Press

The Poetics of ROCK
Cutting Tracks
Making Records

By Albin J Zac III

Interesting Yes.
Informative Yes.
Verbose Definitely!

Easy to find and worth seeking out.

It's ironic that Meridian have often put forward the argument for not developing certain solutions because there was little content and now find themselves in this position.

From a customer perspective, can be confusing. Making up for that, you never suffer from building expectations, only to annoy customers when things are late.

The good news is that Meridian does have a very good track record of eventually releasing stuff.
But in that case they should not have taken orders for 818/808 last March with a declared delivery date by the end of that month. This is not a strategy for keeping customers happy.

I think what is important is communication (of any sort). Communication is a key factor in all good relationships, whether personal, professional or otherwise. If you say there will be an announcement, especially a major one, and forces conspire to prevent said announcement, then at least tell people there has been a delay. You don't have to be specific or give away anything you don't want to, but tell those who may have been waiting for this announcement something like: "With so many parties involved, it is taking longer than expected to bring this to market and we hope to have more information available in the not too distant future." Don't just let it drop and hope no one notices.

I have been a part of the Meridian fan club for many years now and have a good idea of how they work. But please, take some time to communicate, whether in a blog or through the Media site or via emails to registered owners, to give them some idea of how things are progressing. No details need be revealed. No risks need be taken. It is just common courtesy.

Sorry if I seem negative. I am just very excited about this new technology and after more than a year of waiting and preparation via upgrades, I am anxious to get it home.

Regards,

Wayne

It's hard to argue with what you are saying.

Just noticed over at The Absolute Sound site a short news item saying "Pioneer Digital Audio Player Becomes First Portable Player to Offer MQA"

Good Grief, I've just received a Meridian MQA email trailing several presentations and activities at forthcoming Industry shows...

Cheers

Yep. My phone is having an MQA activity attack with all the announcements going to multiple email aliases...

OK. So just the two, but that's an infinite increase in activity compared with the previous 6 months.

Great to see a portable product and that more companies are joining in. I too received the email from MQA but none of this, in all fairness, constitutes a "major announcement." We know that work has been going on for years now, so let's start having some dialog and let's start rolling out some actual MQA software and product. It is time to turn those MQA ready products into awesome, working, high-res, MQA delivering marvels. All of us are ready to be thrilled!
