Just Purchased / Received "Many A Mile" Buffy Sainte-Marie.
My original vinyl was stolen at a party way back when, circa 1965.
I played this incessantly prior to the loss.
This album was seminal in my future personal development and musical appreciation over the many intervening years. It was the seed!
To be able to purchase this re release on CD is fantastic today, I missed the first re release opportunity to complete my BS-M collection and £500 from Japan was too much.
If it is not in your collection warts and all, it should be!
Please share your experiences and why of personal SEMINAL ALBUMS.

Deep Purple In Rock.
I was 6 or 7 when it came out so was too young then but I got into DP when I was ~ 16. I can remember realising in June of 1980 that the album was 10 years old that month so played the vinyl copy every day up in my attic bedroom & just didn't tire of it.
It's still my favourite Purple album all these years later & would easily make my Top 10 albums list. Best on it? That's a tough call but Hard Lovin' Man would come top, closely followed by Speed King & Child In Time but there isn't a dud on it.
Happily I'm going to see DP in Florence this autumn & 3 of the 5 band members that made In Rock will be there, amazingly. 45 years later! Happy days.

Pink Floyd - Dark Side of the Moon.
I was a teenager when it was originally released.
At the time, I owned a Sansui-based quadraphonic system (that could playback CD-4, QS and SQ encoded music) - with a Garrard 401 and SME2009, plus 4x Celestion Ditton 15's
Although the album wasn't promoted or labelled as being a 4-channel album, if I remember correctly, it was SQ encoded.
The combination of surround system and surround music (at inconsiderate teenager listening levels) was truly memorable.
Not an Actor, nor married to Jamie-Lee Curtis.

T Rex, Electric Warrior brings back great memories of the album being passed around and lusted over on the school bus. The cover was so cool and it is a great listen too... Even today ... Chris

Good to see so many personal favourites getting honourable mentions here. Reminds me of trying to learn to play 'Get it On' (Electric Warrior) and 'Flight of the Rat' (DP In Rock) on the guitar. Also liked 'Deja Vu' by Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young. Terrific song writing. I used to run home from school at lunchtime to make sure I had time to listen to all of 'Wish You Were Here' (Pink Floyd) before charging, somewhat less enthusiastically, back for afternoon session :O) Worth mentioning too, almost any Bowie album from early to mid 70s, at the height of his mystical powers and being re-released next month in a box set. How many times have I bought 'The White Album' now exactly? ... Vinyl, Tape, CD, USB, ... ~M~
Mostly harmless. Comfortably numb.

If you want to join me for a session on playing Get It On feel free. I remember learning that riff from John Brunning of Classic FM fame. It's a classic for learning some technique. Easy once you know. Happy Days. I agree about early Bowie as well. Chris

Pink Floyd - Dark Side of the Moon.
Although the album wasn't promoted or labelled as being a 4-channel album, if I remember correctly, it was SQ encoded. Hi, Audio Fidelity have released some of the old quadraphonic (i.e. 4.0) mixes as multichannel SACD discs. I've picked up "The Best of the Doors" and Billy Joel's "Streetlife Serenade" albums from Amazon. Brian

Good idea Chris ! MeridianreallyUnplugged ! 😎 Certainly that period of 60s into 70s we were blessed with some great music ; Beatles , Stones ,Dylan, Floyd ,Who, Zeppelin , Purple , Bowie , Clapton , CSNY ,Joni Mitchell , etc all at the top of their game and still sounding as great as they ever did .

Don't forget Black Sabbath from that list! The eponymous album, Paranoid, Sabbath Bloody Sabbath, Master Of Reality & Vol 4 are some of the great rock albums. And that's without Megalomania (from Sabotage); one of the greatest hard rock tracks ever.

Those of us lucky enough to be old enough grew up through a rock masterclass, looking back now I am amazed. Top of the pops had some classic moments, The stones drowned in soap bubbles, The Faces kicking footballs, all the glam rock with T Rex, David Bowie, Slade.... The list is endless. We had some really naff stuff too but all in all it was a musical education and I am glad I lived through it. Chris

The next major chapter in my musical journey would be when I was at college in Leeds in the mid-'80s & my then girlfriend introduced me to Springsteen's Born In The USA album & then to The River. That started me on a long love affair with Springsteen's music which is still with me today.
We went to see him in Roundhay Park on the tour that year & I've probably seen him 30 times since. While I've never liked the title track, the album is an all-time great & of course it gave us that seminal music video for Dancing In The Dark, featuring a very young Courtney Cox!
As for The River, the last 3 tracks on it are about as good as music gets, for me.
