Good man! Thanks very much for that. 8 analogue inputs, 12 digital inputs and two optical. So a 568.2mm update, with room correction and a load of inputs...excellent!Looks a bit weird with that completely blank panel though!
Cheers
George

Goodness, it has unique functions indeed! Now that's what I call a value proposition!

Hmm, a AXV has 10 outputs, this one only 8. What to do if stereo LFE/SUB, height channels bocome operative (if ever)

Hi Jaco
I suspect that buyers whom the J model is aimed at won't have a full 10 channel rig in their sights at this stage. Of course, once they have their G68J and the bug has bitten, it may be a different matter, in which case they'll fall prey to the upgradeitis which affects the rest of us!
Priced at 3600, it does more than it's predecessor, yet is significantly less expensive (the 568.2mm being 4305 in the UK). Seems an eminently sensible move by M.

Than it is perhas a good move, but i wanted to point out that even if you do not need the Video in/outputs, the AXV might be the preferable modell becuase of the extra A/B output.

Jaco:
LX/RX at top right gets you to 10 channels of analog out.

John,
doesn't the LX/RX just get you to 8?
Yesterday I received and started to hook up my G68ADV (thanks for the advice both here and AVS) and the way I understood it, the only way to get more than 8 speaker outputs was some combination of digital outs and analog outs. Is that not correct?
Also, I was a little surprised that in a 7.1 configuration the LX/RX are actually the rear speakers and the rear speakers are actually the rear surrounds.
The unit sounds great!

No BNC Meridian comms ... I wonder if it has been dropped? What does it do anyway? Seems odd that it would duplicate the 500 series comms.

More than 8 speakers is basicly useless, unless you want to play the DVD-A titles from MDG. Also you could play a few discs from Chesky and Telarc, but be prepared to move your height speakers around the room for that.
Hopefully Meridian will make it long lasting "promise" up and go to more than 8 channel support. (my almost 5 year old 861 had already labels for height channels included)

I'd like to get a 9th (and possibly 10th) channel for subwoofers. I currently have a 7.2 setup and have to run the subs as mono. I'd like to be able to have left/right subs AND 7 speakers.
Personally, I don't care about height channels.

There were also labels for all sort of woofers.. In fact it was a sheet with quite a large number of self adhesive labels.
Look up answers on the Question list John Kotches has asked Meridian last Cedia.
No direct hope for your left and right woofer next to a LFE woofer (that is what i would like to have)
