Hello, I was wondering if anyone can tell me if there is a particular HDMI cable that works with this player? All the ones I have tried so far have given me a fuzzy picture. Kind of like when an old tv aerial lost its signal ( see video). I'm not sure if it's an issue with the cable or HDMI port and would like to narrow it down. Everything else is working perfectly and the picture quality on component is great but I currently have this up for sale and it would make it easier to sell if I could sort out the HDMI issue. Has anyone experienced this issue before? Any advice would be appreciated.

What length is the cable? Does changing resolution help? Is it on all video sources?

It might be worth a check that the G91 is running later FW as the earliest FW was reported to have poor idea quality. I've not tried to do anything unusual (such as long cables) but I haven't found the G98 or G91 cable sensitive when I've used the HDMI output.

Richard

What length is the cable? Does changing resolution help? Is it on all video sources? The cable lengths I have tried are 1.5, 2 and 1 meter. Changing resolution doesn't help at all. I have been in and out of all the different video settings and it's the same problem each time. The only video source I am using is the HDMI output to the TV. All the other outputs are working perfectly and I am not using any of the video inputs. Thanks for the help.

I have just recently updated it to the latest 2.47 firmware and it still has the same issue. If this isn't cable sensitive then I think it must be the port itself. Thanks for the help.

Hi,
I've used numerous HDMI cables with my G91 and never had any issue with video quality. From that I'm surmising that the G91 is not cable sensitive. I could check the video/scaler settings I have on mine if you think that would help you compare settings.
I do use mine through a 421 switch into projector now but previously have used it direct into the TV and then direct into the projector.
The video possibly looks like it's not synced. Do you have/have you tried another HDMI source into the TV ? Is that OK ? Can you try the G91 HDMI into another display ?

Just a long shot but could it be a region issue?

Hmm. IIRC, HDMI (hardware) failure has been seen on this board before. Hope it's just a simple cable issue though.

I believe like the G98, the HDMI socket connections can be rather fragile. I agree it would be wise to try a different display device but if that doesn't work, it could be a back to base job.
Main system - Sources (Kodi-HTPC, Vero 4k, FireTV, Sat) into Trinnov Altitude 32 (8-16) (+Roon), Trinnov Amplitude 8 amp & Vivid Audio (Giya G3, V1.5) and REL Stentor III speakers. Others: F80 + Raspberry Pi and other Pi systems.

Just a long shot but could it be a region issue? If you mean DVD region then I doubt it. It plays a lot of different regions.
