+1 Roon has replaced Sooloos, I still have the Sooloos library intact... Just in case Meridian give me reason to go Sooloos again? Still love the Meridian endpoints and DSP's, the best of both worlds
Just in case Meridian give me reason to go Sooloos again?
Apart from MQA decoding (which Roon will also do), Meridian could (should) do MQA-encapsulation of >96k non-MQA material (including DSD converted to 192k or higher), something which Roon may not be able to do.
It would be interesting if Meridian were to leverage its IP and start implementing 818-type DSP in the Core, and to add selection of track/album-specific DSP presets, volume offsets, and the like. That would be real value-added, but I'm not holding my breath.

Meridian will support DoP (DSD over PCM) wasn't that in the roadmap? In that case then Roon which is also DoP capable by definition should be able to present this to the audio endpoint in its native format(?)
DSP8000SE, DSP7200SEHC, DSP5200SE sides, DSP7200SE rears, 861v8, 210, Sim2 Ultranero 4, Stewart Cinecurve 2.35:1, XEIT CM-5E Anamorphic lens, Dune HD Duo Cinema 8K and Wireworld Platinum 48G HDMI -> UHD722 -> Shunyata Omega Ethernet. Shunyata/Furutech power-cables/filters. SR Master Fuse@861v8. Uptone Etherregen with 10MHz OCXO clock.
Yes, but, Sooloos and the Meridian hardware currently limits the signal to 96/24. Downsampling is fine, but, it may be that M can encapsulate the 192 (and beyond) material from DoP etc into an MQA style package. Then we might get the full-fat signal to the end points in the chain. The same is true of MQA as well so the two things are probably part of the same story. I hope Roon could also use the same approach.
This is just speculation though so hopefully we'll hear from HQ soon about all this.
Hopefully the Track 2 bug gets sorted at the same time. Chris
No 18 in the Hall of fame I have simple tastes; I am content to settle for the best: GIK monster bass panels, rear wall. QNAP TVS 471i3. Roon into DSP5200SE via 210/ 218 zone... Explorer 2. Bluesound Pulse 2, Mini & Flex. 596v1, 518, Foxsat HD, Sony BDP, Pioneer 5090, 2 Chromecast's for LRB videos. MS200 to F80 for a Roon zone
Looks like no news means bad news I and many others expected better. One has to speculate that if M has outsourced its software (engineers) to Roon they might now struggle to manage delivering a solution in a timely manner.
Sorry to say it's getting ever more worrying. Regards Huw
As Des mentioned previously, our software team have been testing the fix for the Sooloos/Tidal integration over the past week and it is now ready to go live.
Customers will start to receive notification of this software update from 16:30 UK time. Please note that, to avoid problems due to excess server traffic, not all systems will be updated simultaneously.
