I noticed that Roon also had a momentary disconnect from Tidal earlier this evening. One click and it was back. I haven't checked elsewhere.

Seems like perfect timing for the second power supply of my G91 system controller to embarrassingly give out on me! I wonder if I can swap it out for the one in my 10 year old pioneer DVD player!

I raised a ticket with Tidal yesterday and sent a message to Meridian this morning.

Nothing back from Tidal other than a standard acknowledgement of the ticket being raised.

Des from Meridian very kindly called me to acknowledge that Meridian also noticed the issue late yesterday and that they are working to find the root cause / fix.

That is, the issue is confirmed and we will need to wait for Meridian / Tidal to fix rather than something one can do locally.

John

Hi all,

Just to add to the previous post, we have now identified that the problem has been provoked by a change in the information Tidal sends to Sooloos when attempting to play tracks. We are working on our software so that access is restored. Naturally, we aim to get this done as soon as possible so that everyone (including us!) can get back to listening to music from Tidal via Sooloos.

Regards, Des.

Hi all,

Our software team has created a fix for the problem with Tidal playback via Sooloos. This has been incorporated into a new version of the software which is now undergoing testing. Given the circumstances, we've diverted resources to accelerate this testing process. However, we hope you can all appreciate that the minimum time until we can release anything is determined by what we find during testing.

In order to avoid overly high expectations, I can confirm that we are very unlikely to see the fix today. We'll provide a further update early next week.

Des.

Thanks Des,

Whilst disappointing that something has broken, as they say "it happens", what's important is the way the problem is handled; most importantly is good communications, an indication that it is being worked on, together with a estimate of completion.

If it slips a little so be it but at least we know where we stand.

Regards,
Carl

Thanks again Des. The update is really appreciated. Even if the fix isn't yet available, simply knowing that Team HQ is on the case is all that most will need to know.

cheers

This concerns me that a change by a third party can break Sooloos (or any other consumer of this data).

One would expect that a third party API is well documented and that any changes to it are made to a different versioned API with previous versions remaining to be supported and accessible.

Does anyone know of any other consumers affected by this? or is this simply a case that the API has been interpreted too strictly by Meridian, in which case, I hope that Meridian take this on board and their client becomes more flexible to changes that fall within the specs of the API.

Next time, the dev team may not be so available not the destination device remain so supported.

Yes, whole situation makes you question a number of items. Maybe I will just start buying CD's again. I momentarily forgot about this and tried to access Tidal via Sooloos, and 10 min later it was still processing the issue.

Doesn't seem to be an issue at Sonos. Either there is very little adoption or we are only the ones suffering. M is getting from all sides I am afraid.

I don't want to seem over-critical, but I wouldn't have thought that this should have been able to happen. Still, as I'm on the free trial for another couple of weeks I can't complain too much anyway, as 90 days seemed pretty generous.
