Do you mean specifically Tidal MQA content or MQA content in general?
AFAIK - MQA was not designed only for streaming although it clearly benefits streaming. Long term I would expect downloadable purchases "from all good participating stores". I doubt we will see MQA files on silver discs.
I asked Ken Forsythe this specific question about the eventual availability of MQA "HDtracks" style downloads for purchase. He confirmed that was eventually in the plans. The beauty of the MQA design will mean the files will be smaller (download faster) and take up less space on your NAS server, and sound better than 16/44.1 !
Ken Forsythe told us that Meridian was working on embedding MQA on CD due to the fact that primarily in Japan CD's are still the largest format of music sold (not iTunes or streaming).

That's good news. However, there is a problem which is that CD was designed with the assumption that errors would occur in reading the disc. (CD does not have a parity layer - CD-ROM (data CDs) does). And if you have errors, you no longer have bit-perfect, which would wreck MQA decoding. Might be simpler to slap the MQA files on a DVD.

My question was really based around MQA on Tidal. On Qobuz I can stream in 16/44 and download a vast catalogue of music in 24/96 or 24/192 (or even 24/352 in some cases) from the same service. Is it expected that an MQA download option will be offered on Tidal alongside the MQA streaming option?
Is there any demand for this from forum members?

I went into a record shop in Sudbury today and all I can say is, thank god for the Vinyl revival, however much it's based on nostalgia, for keeping these shops open.
I looked at a few CD's that I may have bought but, I had them on Tidal. In a real world situation, I chose not to buy them and then felt the pangs of guilt.
I would have bought them for 1.00 in a charity shop, but 10 plus was going too far.
It looks like Tidal, if you use it, is good value although I suspect we would all like it cheaper and with a realistic exchange rate.
But then, you don't own it... Choices choices... I'm still torn.
Thoughts, Chris
No 18 in the Hall of fame I have simple tastes; I am content to settle for the best: GIK monster bass panels, rear wall. QNAP TVS 471i3. Roon into DSP5200SE via 210/ 218 zone... Explorer 2. Bluesound Pulse 2, Mini & Flex. 596v1, 518, Foxsat HD, Sony BDP, Pioneer 5090, 2 Chromecast's for LRB videos. MS200 to F80 for a Roon zone
If I search Tidal by Artist (Albums by James Taylor) in (Main Releases) using Sooloos C15 I find that albums appear in what appears to be a random order. E.g. last album in list is Mud Slide Slim and the Blue Horizon!!
When using Sooloos C15 to search my own library for James Taylor Albums they appear in "Release Date" chronological order.
Of course this could be lack of metadata in Tidal library but the random nature is perplexing.
I just want to simply access the latest album on Tidal by a particular artist.
Any ideas

So far I've found TIDAL via Sooloos unusable. I can play at most one track I want. The rest just skips or stops. Bandwidth is not the issue. I just did a speed test and got a 112 Mbps down/9.7 Mbps up result. It's a free trial, I suppose I'm getting what I pay for. I'll stick with Rhapsody for now.
