Backup crashes in about 5-10 sec. No error report, Control:Mac just disappears.

Backup to USB disc, which is connected to Airport Extreme.

Have you tried connecting a USB disk to the Mac, ensure the Mac is wired to the router rather than wireless, not ideal I know.

Cheers

Hi,

I've recently completed both an update to an existing backup and a full new backup of my Sooloos lib. It took a few day to complete but it went thought without a single hitch. However, this was on a PC running Control:PC.

The PC and all Sooloos equipment are hardwired to LAN switches.

I wonder if there is a installation issue when running on Macs.

Have any Control:Mac users completed a backup that went fine since this update?

Regards,
Carl

FYI, I also ran a back up on a Windows 8.1 PC all wired with no problems. I had no problems with a native export either.

Carl,

I completed several backups on Control:Mac post the update. Then it started crashing.

Sooloos, Roon, G series (with LPS upgrade), 800 series (with LPS upgrade), HD621, AC200, Prime and PS, DSPs old and new.

Purdeys, Moke, Leica, 'Blad. Only the best.

Russ,

I will try that to see what will happen. I have wired all possible equipment, but a wired set up for the Mac is tricky to get nice in the living room.

I too am having problems with backup crashing after the update.
Using control Mac I normally back up to a USB disk connected directly to the Mac and also to a Networked NAS. Control Mac crashes during backup to both.

Same here in the U.S. (ControlMac), 10.10.2 yosemite, backup storage provided via NFS to a FreeNas NAS. Flawless until a couple of days ago (first backup since update).

5 Mbs is the minimum broadband speed required to stream FLAC from TIDAL on Sonos. If streaming different FLAC music to multiple speakers, we recommend a higher broadband speed. This requirement can vary based on your internet usage (large file downloads, gaming, video streaming, etc.).
  • 5.0 Megabits per second - 1 FLAC stream
  • 7.5 Megabits per second - 2 FLAC streams
  • 10 Megabits per second - 3 or more FLAC streams

Update: according to Meridian America via my PP dealer, Tidal on Sooloos needs an Internet connection with at least 1.5 Mbps download speed. (No idea why different from the Sonos spec.). A "speed test" of our present connection showed it comes up short. Coincidentally, the most recent Sooloos firmware update fixed a problem in which end points dropped off line. (Which appears also to be indicative of too slow internet download speed.). Our next stop is upgrade of our cable connection.
Thanks for your guidance folks.

John

I'm on OS X 10.9.5 and I have not been able to perform a backup since the upgrade. I decided to trace Control:Mac during a backup using the dtruss DTrace script. You can see the tail end of the trace until Control:Mac crashes here. My backup went through updating a few albums, but crashed trying to transfer the first of four new albums.

This part seems salient:

The album at the top of this snippet is one I imported from CD yesterday, so I'm not sure exactly the error message that follows is related. (incomplete) Tidal integration may be the cause here. One thing that seems worth trying is removing all Tidal albums in the Library to see if that makes a difference.

Edit: just passed this on to my PP as well.
