Personally, I would spend the extra $$$ and get the G91 over the G98. This allows you to decode up to 4 external digital sources on top of DVD-Video titles played back in the G91. I've noticed a marked difference in sound quality from the Satellite receiver when using the G91 to decode.
To me, there's a noticable difference in the top end, with less sibilance on movies with DD and DTS soundtracks.
The "is it worth it" part is something that you will have to decide for yourself. It is for me, but I can't decide that for you.
