From what I've gleamed "Sooloos 3" was always intended to be an alternative to Sooloos 2 not a direct replacement. I'm not sure how "Sooloos 3" was to be funded but I'd not rule out some kind of user payment one off or subscription.

I think if Roon could not stream to Meridian hardware that would have been outrageous, but as it is ... it's a commercial arrangement and other than a name change it's still the same application.

Think of positives that having a wider user base will bring (funding = sustained development).
