Hi there,

Hopefully someone can clear up some initial newbie type queries I'm have with TIDAL...

When I click add track to my library on the Control:15/Control:PC does this mean the track is downloaded to my hard drive and is mine to keep? What happens if I unsubscribe to TIDAL - does the file auto delete from my library or will I be left with a file taking up space that I can't play?

In the configure menu of the TIDAL account on Control:PC, what does import library from TIDAL mean?

Also is anyone else finding they can't make a queue of both Tidal and local tracks. As soon as I try to add a Tidal track to a local queue it goes straight to the tidal track.

Thanks,
Simon

Re offline mode, this is what Tidal advises:
Quote
The Offline Mode works on all mobiles and tablets supported by TIDAL.

Maybe you need to refer to Tidal first if you wish offline option on Sooloos, being no mobile or tablet? (I assume that no other device e.g. Sonos can do it either.)
I agree, you need a good internet reliabilty, but hey it is a streaming service, not a download service.

Cheers!

It seems we only get a link to a stream of the album.

No, it only adds the album artwork and a link to Tidal so it can be streamed.

No subscription, no play.

if you have setup librarys in Tidal, it pulls the references down into Sooloos.

Interesting, I've not tried that.

Hi Chris,

I actually found iOS8 to be faster than iOS7 certainly more stable ... I guess it depends on what you use it for.

I have a Air 2 now which is much faster than my iPad 2 even when it ran iOS6. However, we digress as this is best discussed in the Upgrading iPad 2 to iOS8 - Sooloos implications? topic.

Regards,
Carl

Besides the skipping of track 2 for lots of albums, I have experienced two other oddities.

First: selection of an individual track of an album (play track next or add to queue, selected from the album details page) doesn't come through: the track will not appear in the queue. Retrying/selecting the track again will often solve this problem.
Perhaps this is related to my rather antique iPad1, running on iOS5.

And second: I tried to play the soundtrack of Reservoir Dogs, but Tidal only plays the radio deejay intermezzos, and not the actual musical tracks. This might be a copyright issue...

But apart from this, I must say I am really very happy with Tidal integration. I'm rediscovering lots of music, and am very impressed with the sound quality.

If Tidal albums were indeed stored locally, I would need some new and larger drives in my MD600 very soon wink

Just to confirm Ian's reply to my early post, I've upgraded my iPad to iOS8 and now I see TIDAL as one of the alternatives in the Focus->Album Info -> Quality dialog.

To be clear to everyone running iOS7, the core control app under iOS7 does not show TIDAL as a Quality option.

Thanks, Ian!

More issues. Control:Mac now crashes every time I run my back up. I've rebooted the core, and used two different computers. Tried reinstalling Control:Mac as well.

JackFlash, you are running Sooloos and Sonos, how does the interface compare between the two?

I have found it excellent on Sonos, I really want to go to Sooloos but I have Calm Radio and Soundcloud in Sonos that both work perfectly and I woudn't want to loose that.

Reading the threads it seems there are some issues with the Meridian integration of Tidal, is that the case? Or does it work just as well as on Sonos?

Have been using Control:PC with Tidal for a while now and it mostly works great however I have seen two issues. Anybody else experiencing these?

1) When playing a list of songs it sometimes plays parts of a second of a song and then skips to the next one. If I double-click click on the song it start playing just fine though.

2) Linking of audio zones is not working at all for me. The settings disappear. I usually play on the "stereo" via the MC200 digital out but when the kids come home I play on the PC or headphones. So I link the MC200 and the PC Audio. I start playing via the MC200 which works fine only to find the setting gone 4h later when turning up the volume on the PC speakers.
