I figured I'd start this thread to collect experiences of those who have completed the 2.449 update that brings TIDAL integration.

After updating I was prompted to apply a Control:Mac update. Adding a TIDAL account was not a problem. I did have to create a new TIDAL account as I couldn't see a quick way to apply the 90 day trial voucher to an existing (lapsed) trial account I've had for a few months.

My quick take

- TIDAL streaming smooth so far
- I've noticed some playlists under TIDAL > Moods. They seem to mirror what's visible in the TIDAL app itself
- A couple of minor bugs have been fixed. e.g. before one couldn't search for anything with an apostrophe in it.
- the capitalized characters that follow any character with a diacritical mark are now fixed
- I need to get used to the predominantly inverted color scheme (white on black)

Minor improvements I was hoping for (besides the "ground up rewrite" of Sooloos) but aren't fixed:

- Core Control doesn't remember where you are in your collection of albums in Browse mode if you leave the app
- The review tab doesn't preserve newlines or other formatting
- The list of Genres shown when you choose to Edit Genres from the Core Control browse screen is randomly ordered. Mine starts with Reggae.

New bugs (some minor) I've found so far:

- As I pointed out here , the Sooloos iOS app doesn't apply any order to tags under the Swim function (see screen shot below)
- For album sets, the text "1 OF 2 IN SET" under the album art in detail view is in a font that doesn't work well on a black background. I suspect it's the font that was used on the old background
- The Album detail screen says No Pick Tracks even if the album has them



Update: this just went away. I can now play pick tracks again. Not sure what changed, but I'm glad I made a screenshot

Tags shown under Swim seems randomly ordered:

In Core Control for iPad they are alphabetically ordered.

I've also noticed the following new features via iPad Core Control. Maybe I'm imagining things...

- You can create a Focus that plays albums that haven't been played in the last Week/Month/3 Months/6 Months/Year
- The edit icon has options to Select All, Select Page or Select None of the albums

With Tidal how do I know that track I am playing is in HiFi (lossless) when there is no indication either in Control:PC or in the iPad App?

I say that slightly in jest, but I know there is some core thinking from various areas of the industry that sometimes, less is more, and as long as you are being served the best quality available and that you enjoy that, then the need to know exactly what you are listening to is inconsequential.

There are different settings with Tidal to choose different quality streams. Just would like to know that Sooloos defaults to the lossless HiFi setting instead of Standard or High.

As I'm paying several times as much for Tidal as for Rhapsody, I'd like some reassurance too.

As far as I can see, my Favourites in Tidal are not automatically added to my library, as my Archive in Rhapsody is. Can anyone see any logic to that?

Ah, now that A/B listening has been proved useless in evaluating sound quality any confirmation about what you are listening to is pointless. Just ask "do you like it?" like most listeners do to 160K MP3.

Does Tidal automatically add tracks/albums to storage as a default?

I ask this because All of the tracks/albums that I added to my library last night whilst appearing in my library stored on QNAP with the Tidal logo do not appear in Control:Mac under Tidal/library which is showing as empty.

Napster shows both under library and 'teardrops' storage.

If I understand you correctly, this works for me. An album I favorite with a star in theTIDAL app shows up in Core Control under Explore > TIDAL > My Library > My Favourites > Albums

I don't think that's the same thing.

With Rhapsody, the album is integrated into the library, and is therefore immediately there in the iPad app.

With Tidal, the album is in the Finder but when I click on it, it offers to add it to the library. I don't have my iPad handy but I think this means they are not all automatically visible in the iPad app.

I had a feeling you were describing something else. If you are saying that you can add an album to My Music in the Rhapsody app and have it automatically show up with album artwork in Core Control's Browse view, then that's something I've never gotten to work.

It's not just Rhapsody "My Music", for me it's Archive, between Favourite Tracks and Playlists. When I add to exactly there, they appear in my Album Browser in Core Control. Is that also exactly what you're doing?
