Greg,
You did not provide a price range but stated you were looking at a max 55". As they say size matters. And the bigger it gets the quality must go up also. At 55" and normal viewing distance I'm not convinced you need 4k or OLED (Oh Led). I go to CES every January (12 consecutive years now). Of course I spend a lot of time in the television arena. Fifteen years ago Panasonic and Sony showed the most innovation. Ten years ago Samsung and Panasonic looked best. Today IMO LG and Samsung were at the forefront. This year LG had a 98" 8k OLED on demo. You were invited to step up close and then they handed you a magnifying glass. The demo was jaw dropping. LG also had a darkened demo room where they had regular 4k next to OLED 4K. The blacks on the OLED were pure black. The OLED colors are brilliant. Unless you are going very large I'm not a fan of curved. By the way Sharp has a 120 inch UHD coming out in a little more than a year. Maybe just a few years out before my projector is replaced with a very large TV.
As for quality, I have a friend with an install business and he has stopped pushing Samsung because he is getting too many power supply failures. He now recommends LG.
