You know that Sooloos core currently decodes the FLAC files from the HDD before sending to the endpoints ? So, the idea that files go from HDD direct to endpoint isn't how it is today.

My comment about Tidal/Wimp is that the MQA release only (to my understanding)is for the Tidal service, not available for Wimp. So for us M owners that are not included in the Tidal countries this new feature is not at the moment very useful.

My comment about Tidal/Wimp is that the MQA release only (to my understanding)is for the Tidal service, not available for Wimp. So for us M owners that are not included in the Tidal countries this new feature is not at the moment very useful. In Norway you can order Tidal from the Norwegian Meridian importer. Probably the same in Sweden.

The two key phrases on the DSP datasheet seem to be: - They fully support Meridian�s revolutionary MQA process... and: - When fed from an MQA decoder... which imply that (i) a h/w upgrade is not necessary (  ) and (ii) that an upstream MQA decoder is necessary.

Poor wording on my part. I glossed over the file unpacking. I figured that a FLAC file would just be a FLAC file with or without MQA and the unpacking wouldn't be any different. It would be up to the endpoint to know what to do with the extra information that is embedded in the MQA file. Same with MP3 or WAV.

I hope more than 20 have the possibility to be Tidal user in Norway when it's up and running. My self included, but it seems to be awhile until the 861 will be ready for MQA.

Tidal seems the way to go given that it may well be the first opportunity we have to listen to MQA files. I've been testing it out and am a bit disappointed in the jazz selection-only 90 albums! That will have to improve or I will be reluctant to pay $20 a month.

Pretty sure those genre albums lists are just hand-picked recommendations, no?
Edit: I get about 90 too if I go to GENRE --> Jazz, but Kind of Blue isn't there. Search for Kind of Blue and, of course, it is.

Ah. Yes. Well then poorly organized don't you agree? So isn't there a way to look at the entire jazz catalog?
