It's my first post so first of all I want to say Hello to all the forum
A few days ago I bought my first Meridian product which is G68J from our forum member Ulidian, thanks again Ulrich I felt in love at the first sight (sound), this unit sound spectacular, my wife and me spent last night listening to different kinds of music and videos.
Now I how a question regarding the digital outputs for DSP speakers. Any idea what kind of signal these output do? I mean is it regular PCM or some other kind of DSP or sth?
I ask because I wanted to connect my stereo tube DAC (Lampizator) to the Meridian and now I only hear very loud pink noise. I know it's possible with 568.2mm which sounds just great but my G68J just doesn�t want to sing. Manual couldn�t help me with that.
By default the DSP's digital output is encrypted by Meridian's MHR. You can turn this off on most Sooloos and processors but then you lose high resolution capability, I believe.

I see no such option as MHR on/off in G68. That's a real puzzler... the 568.2mm worked flawless in such config.
Any other suggestions?

I managed to connect the G68J via USB, which I didn�t even see before.. DUH
Anyway, after few hours of trying, I still see no such possibility to change this output to regular PCM. I will try to contact Meridian to ask about the solution.
How have you set up the G68 ? What does it think is connected on the output side?
To force non-MHR (MHR = encryption=pink noise) output you may just need to tell it that it has non-MHR DSP's connected. Then it will just o/p 1x standard signal. It will down-sample everything to that also but that may not be an issue.
You need to set "HS=NO", i.e. disable the High Speed (96k) support so that the max sample rate for the output is 48k. You can do this from MConfig or the front panel.
BTW in MConfig this setting is in the "DSP presets" section and can be set for "All Presets" or just for which one you want (Direct for example)

MHR and HS='N' are not closely coupled.
On my 861 DSP system HS=Y outputs MHR 96k, HS=N outputs MHR 48k.
It is what's connected to those outputs in Mconfig that affects whether MHR is switched on or not. Now it is only possible to connect DSP speakers to those digital outputs, however they stay active even when nothing is configured thus ...
Derik, I would try configuring the G68 to have analogue main fronts and then try it with the DAC i.e. like the 818 setup described in link previously posted.
I never had a G series myself so no guarantees, but it's worth a shot.
That's what worked for me in the past when I wanted to record something from the digital output, however I don't have any MHR sources. I'd suspect MHR in always results in MHR out.
In MConfig you can also say pair of older DSPs like 5000, 5500 or 6000 are connected. When you right click on these, properties, general, there is an option to say 96/24 is not supported. The older DSPs that don't support 96/24 also don't support MHR, and so that should enable a pure PCM output in all cases.
