I've got a problem with Control:PC and wondered if anyone has any ideas.
It's been installed for a few months but I haven't used it for a month since importing all my FLAC files into Sooloos (mainly using the iPad for control). Having some more CD's to import I started the application but I immediately got a message stating that "Control:PC has stopped working, please wait while Windows checks for a solution". Which then closes after a second with no more info...
Note the application doesn't even open a window, it is straight into the Windows dialog box
So far I've tried: Stopping the AV Running a full (boot time) virus scan Running Control:PC as Administrator Running in Windows XP compatibility Re-installing Un installing and then re-installing. Un-installing, trawling through the registry deleting any remaining references, rebooting then re-installing from a newly downloaded installation .exe.
No change in behaviour. Has anyone got any ideas (apart from a new PC) or seen this before?
FYI the PC is running Windows 7 Ultimate 64 bit SP1 (fully patched) The event log shows the following:
Fault bucket 131617369, type 22 Event Name: CLR20r3 Response: Not available Cab Id: 0
Problem signature: P1: controlpc.exe P2: 0.0.0.0 P3: 51deca4d P4: System P5: 2.0.0.0 P6: 53a12529 P7: 2ce6 P8: 40 P9: System.Net.Sockets.Socket P10:
Thanks for any help

Check if your AV has quarantined any Sooloos exe's. I found Norton had done a few of mine a while back. Not very helpful !!

Worth a check but no, nothing in the virus chest. I also shutdown AV completely and re-installed. No luck I'm afraid.
Thanks anyway...

Control:PC requires .Net [3.5] to run (2.0 I think). Your .net install is corrupt and needs to be reinstalled.

Have you checked if the Soolooshelper.exe process is running?
Also does the Sooloos configuration program run?

.Net 3.5.1 is installed as part of Windows 7 so 2.0 will not install and informs you to use the "Turn Windows Features on or Off" section in Control Panel. So I disabled 3.51 and then re-enabled. I also ran a repair on 4.5.1 framework which is also installed but as a program.
No change I'm afraid. But thanks for the suggestion it sounded very plausible. Something must be corrupt somewhere.
I could try removing 4.5.1 I suppose...

Soolooshelper.exe (*32) is running and the configuration program runs but it does not detect the MC200. I've checked with Wireshark and I am receiving broadcast (well multicast to be pedantic) packets from the MC200 on port 9001 so there maybe something related to the Control:PC crashing. Just to be clear I can get to the MC200 via http

Hi Chris,
Control:PC requires the .NET 3.5 framework.
I suggest you uninstall, reboot and then reinstall it on your PC and also make sure it is enabled (that can catch people out esp. on Windows 8 OS).
Then try reinstalling Control:PC
Fingers crossed.

Can you repair or reinstall .net 3.5? Some discussion here. [Edit]Carl, as ever, is one step ahead of me.[/Edit]

Sooloos, Roon, G series (with LPS upgrade), 800 series (with LPS upgrade), HD621, AC200, Prime and PS, DSPs old and new.
Purdeys, Moke, Leica, 'Blad. Only the best.

Thanks for the advice but unfortunately the uninstall and re-install on Windows 7 64 bit is to turn off .NET 3.5.1 (i.e. SP1 of 3.5) under Programs and Features then re-enable. You can't uninstall and re-install directly as you can with XP as .3.5 is part of the core OS.
So, as noted in my earlier reply I have already disabled .NET 3.5, rebooted and then re-enabled. According to MS this will repair the install. No luck.
I've also run the .NET repair utility (NetFxRepairTool.exe - which repairs .NET 1.0 through 4.5.1) and also installed .NET 4.5.2 just in case. So .NET 3.5.1 and .NET 4.5.2 are installed and enabled and have been repaired. No change. I'm checking after each step by the way.
I've also run the .NET verification tool which has verified .NET 3.5.1 is installed correctly
Interestingly while running the 4.5.2 update (which stops .NET apps during install) I get the following event log errors which I haven't seen before so may or may not be relevant
Application 'C:\Program Files (x86)\SooloosControlPC\SooloosHelper.exe' (pid 5516) cannot be restarted - Application SID does not match Conductor SID.. and Application 'C:\Program Files (x86)\SooloosControlPC\SooloosHelper.exe' (pid 5516) cannot be restarted - Application SID does not match Conductor SID..
Also to provide more information, if I kill the Soolosshelper and SyncCompanion processes and try to start Control:PC those processes start without issue and then ControlPC crashes as always. Not sure if this helps at all.
I think I have to try a full Windows repair next...
Thanks for all the help

Oh yes, several times and I have downloaded a new copy of the installer in case that was bust too!
I've had someone suggest uninstalling with Revo uninstaller to force a clean uninstall. So that might be another option.
I might also try completely uninstalling the AV as well...
But any other ideas are welcome (note I've already tried standing on a chair holding a pineapple while re-installing).
Cheers
