Hello readers, Currenly I'm running a G65 with analog speakers. However after hearing the DSP7200SE's I could not live without them So I'm preparing myself on the following configuration: 1x DSP7200SE as front speakers 1x DSP7200HCSE as center speaker 1x DSP5200 (demo models, latest version before SE) as rear speakers. In preparation on receiving the new SE's I want to make sure I setup things right the first time. So after a lot of reading I know this: - Connect all speakers with SpeakerLink to the G65 in homerun scenario (center in master port, all other in slave ports) - Set all speakers to type 6 - Set the 7200HC center as master, all other speakers as slave - When in standby, press the clear button pointing at the G65 to select the controller. A couple of questions remain after this: - Do I need to setup the speakers using the 0 button during reboot and what should I change to have it correctly set for use in this setup? - I guess all speakers will be 'DSP Large' within the Meridian config application? - Anything else I need to be aware of? Many thanks guys, Frans

Congrats on the new toys.
Yes... You need to config each speaker to tell it what it is and how it is being used e.g. FRONT, LEFT, SLAVE, RJ45 (SL) input.

Hi Frans, Wow a big step, can't wait to read you comments once it's all setup. - Connect all speakers with SpeakerLink to the G65 in homerun scenario (center in master port, all other in slave ports) No quite, the MASTER DSP must be connected into the MASTER bank of RJ45 ports, but the other DSP's may connected into either the SLAVE or MASTER bank (in fact for home run you have to do this). - Set all speakers to type 6 - Set the 7200HC center as master, all other speakers as slave - When in standby, press the clear button pointing at the G65 to select the controller. Sounds good, but there's more... - Do I need to setup the speakers using the 0 button during reboot and what should I change to have it correctly set for use in this setup? Yes after typing, for each speaker you need to configure it for: - RJ45 (SpeakerLink) or Coax - Left or Right - MASTER or SLAVE - Centre Y/N - Surround Y/N (not sure if this makes a difference but I do it anyway) - I guess all speakers will be 'DSP Large' within the Meridian config application? As your not using a sub, then yes. - Anything else I need to be aware of? I recommend downloading the Meridian config PC program and then add in your complete system into to it. You can do this before the DSP arrive. Then when your system is ready you can download the setup into the G65. Regards, Carl

Hello Carl, Many thanks for your comments and additions to my account I already use the DSP5200's as surrounds. So to recap I need to setup all individual speakers as type 6 and with the following settings: Position and M/S: L.S.RJ45 and R.S.RJ45 for DSP7200SE and DSP5200, C.M.RJ45 for DSP7200HCSE Compatibility: G for all speakers Controller mode: Auto for all speakers System Address: 1 for all speakers? Product Address: 1 for all speakers? Volume Mode: 1 for all speakers Balance control: N for all speakers? EBA: SL for all speakers Centre Menus: N for DSP7200SE and DSP5200, Y for DSP7200HCSE Elevation: don't have this on the DSP5200. Diagnostic display: N on all speakers Position: speaker dependant Front for DSP7200SE and DSP7200HCSE, Surround for DSP5200 I also have a subwoofer (SVS sub) for pushing me in the back with movies:) shold I still use DSP Large for the speakers? Many thank so far! Frans

Diagnostic display: I tend to have this Y, but matters not. You have a sub, you kept that quiet If you only want to use it for the .1 LFE channel then having your speakers set to large is fine. If you wish to offload some of the bass from the DSP's to the sub you should set consider setting (some of) them as small and then selecting the appropriate crossover frequencies to suit your system/room/ears. Have a play with Mconfig and the base management section to see what happens to the base with the various options available to you. Regards, Carl PS Personally with your setup I think I'd only use that sub for the LFE (I'd not want to mess up all the good work that EBA does).

Type 6 for speakers with a G65? I don't have that option with my system Meridian America says I should use Type 2 (all digital) with my DSP5200s In my G65 book it only calls for Type 0 to Type 5 and they are as follows:
TYPE SPEAKER MUSIC LOGIC 5.1 MOVIE
CONFIGURATION SUB SUB SUB
-----------------------------------------------------
- 0 All analogue LFE Centre LFE
- 1 All analogue Mono Mono LFE
- 2 All digital LFE Centre LFE
- 3 All digital None None None
(large centre)
- 4 Digital L+R+C LFE Centre LFE
- 5 Digital L + R LFE Centre LFE

Hello Jet,
This refers to the speaker setting, not G65. See the DSP speaker manual for setup.
