Came across Damon blush Albarn on Jools Holland - I know, bit behind the times! Loved seeing 'Stylo' and 'Mr Tembo' and loved Albarn's passion for what he was doing.

Ended up buying his latest, 'Everday Robots'. Immediately regretted it - just too easy to press buy button and such impulses often disappointing.

Turns out that this is a tremendous record. Bit mordant but fabulous sound textures and melodies. If not too fanciful reminded me of Robert Wyatt - somehow very English, slightly whimsical, complex, surprising and beautiful sounds conjured from simple elements.

It takes a few listenings to get into. Should have been my secret Santa pressie - sorry RW.
