It just works so well for me. The iPad UI just makes playing music so easy. You also know audio quality is optimised and upgrade able as funds allow. There is no going back for me now. Chris
No 18 in the Hall of fame I have simple tastes; I am content to settle for the best: GIK monster bass panels, rear wall. QNAP TVS 471i3. Roon into DSP5200SE via 210/ 218 zone... Explorer 2. Bluesound Pulse 2, Mini & Flex. 596v1, 518, Foxsat HD, Sony BDP, Pioneer 5090, 2 Chromecast's for LRB videos. MS200 to F80 for a Roon zone
A QNAP is not a requirement, the MC200 has 1TB of built in storage (2500 albums) which may well be enough for your music library? An extended home demo would be essential to allow you to evaluate any differences/improvements.
Carl, can you explain further how to see the audio files on an MD600 from another device on the network? I've tried scanning my network from both my Mac and my wife's Windows machine looking for a file server that represents the MD600 and don't see anything.
I have a feeling you're talking about something else.
Thanks!

It took me awhile to find some actual music files in that directory structure because many directories are empty.
It appears to me that the design is to use the file directory structure as some form of hash table, but I don't see why it's so sparsely populated. When I have more time, I may explore it more.
Thanks for the help.

Just to come back to one of the original questions in the chain, besides the GUI, are others seeing an improvement in sound by moving from a Squeezebox-centric system to the Sooloos? I currently run a whs 2011 (RIPNAS---dBpoweramp derivative) into various SBT's or Sonore squeezebox enabled devices...some direct into my Meridian gear, one via 518. they sound great to my ear, but I have spent no time with any Sooloos gear. What are the impressions on the sound differences?
I used to run my Logitech transporter from FLAC files loaded in a RIPNAS server into my 861. It sounded excellent but when I transferred to Sooloos from my MC200 using QNAP as the medium (files copied from Ripnas) the sound was noticeably better.
I now use QNAP and Sooloos for my main system and squeezebox access for other areas i.e. conservatory. To be fair although my current system with 861v8 and ID41 rather than v6 and ID40 does make a substantial difference my comments are still valid for the time I had the lesser hardware.
Hope this helps
