Hi all, I'm sure this is a simple question for most of you, just don't want to rip my room apart if it isn't viable. I currently have a the following (568.2 / 562.3 / 506 / 5500 pair / 5000C as master). Recently bought an Xbox one and I was wondering if I could connect the SPDIF output to a 519 (I have a 519 for my LD player) and feed that directly into the 5000C (Digital input 2). Would this work and would any changes be required on the 5000C / 5500's? XBOX One (Optical SPDIF) ---> 519 (Coax SPDIF) ----> 5000C I have a squeezebox connected to the master speaker of my 5000's but for the life of me I can't remember whether this just worked or I needed to Type the speakers. It's not possible to link the Xbox to the 568 as I use the 568 for my cinema setup and the Xbox is directly connected to a TV, just wanted to try to use the speakers. Thanks in advance for any comments and also thanks to Duncan for allowing me to read some docs and see various back panels without having to break my neck straining behind my racks.  Sturm.

Hi the 519 can be used as an optical to coax converter, so that's possible.
However, unless it is possible to set the Xbox to output a mono signal the 5000C will only output (dependent on Config) either the left or right channel.
What I don't understand is why you can't connect the Xbox's optical output to the processor. I assume the 5000C is part of you cinema system.

Carl, Thanks for the reply. The processor is racked at the back of the room and the accompanying 562 connected to a projector (component). The Xbox is at the front of the room connected to a LCD TV, I just didn't want to run the Xbox through the projector. Sounds like I may have some reading to do, I initially thought the 5000C, as it is acting as master, would take any digital input and push it to the 5500's. Square peg, round hole perhaps Sturm.

Are the screen and TV located together?
If so I would just connect the XBox to the 562 optically, leave the XBox connected to the TV via HDMI (presumably), then mute the TV and use the 562 etc. for sound duties. I don't think you need to bother connecting the XBox to the projector.

Greg, No the TV and 562 are at opposite ends of the room unfortunately. The Xbox has become a quick drop in and drop out kind of device, I didn't want the kids to have to turn all the M kit and the projector on just to play a quick game. Currently digesting the 5000C manual in the hope that a 'Type' will fit the bill without breaking the original configuration. However thanks for the reply, indeed a long HDMI lead may well be the answer and hook directly via optical to the 562. Gotta love this M kit, I was sold on it years ago when the salesman said you could upgrade the firmware by PC Sturm.

Carl, Lol !!! Yes indeed, will look into pricing. Looks like the easy option is to connect it to the 562, time to hide more cables Sturm.

Hi,
A Suggestion:
Leave the Xbox connected at front of room. Run coax of S lead from Xbox to 519 (at back of room) then optical from 519 to 562 etc. Alternatively optical to 519, with 519 at front, then S-lead coax to 562 (at back).
It is possible to convert the 519 to coax to optical converter role by changing internal jumper, 10 minute job!
Cheaper than long optical!
Assume you could try this with existing components to check work, then invest in S-lead if ok.
