However, I feel compelled to argue that $20/month is actually too cheap for what the offering is. These streaming services need to be profitable for any decent royalties to go back to the artists. (Second-hand CDs = no royalties.). Small labels - particularly classical labels - are already withdrawing their content from the likes of Spotify, because the streaming providers cannot provide them with adequate royalties. Let's get real for a bit here: Spotify LOSES money for every new subscriber to its free service; this is not sustainable.

I have no wish to preach. I'll only state that I've discovered so much music recently from streaming services and, given that I have equipment that will allow me to discern the differences between lossy and lossless, FOR ME, I think that 20/month is worth it. Yes, it is a very different music distribution model - not owning a physical copy of the media and being, I suppose, forever reliant on a subscription - but I confess that I don't have the storage space for the CD equivalent of 25 million tracks.

Anyway, please let's not use this thread to criticise or belittle those that see Tidal as something worthwhile.

From my perspective, once Tidal is integrated into Sooloos (which I assume is round the corner), it's going to be wonderful.
