So the Airport is being used to link to your router?
And the Airport is hard wired to a switch in the living room, where the IP2SL needs to be?

It's probably to do with the airport blocking the IP2SL beacon, but not sure why it works if you plug the IP2SL into the airport direct, rather than through the switch.

You'll probably have to use a static IP for the IP2SL.

Static IP or not does not make a difference.
My airports are all in bridged mode. For some reason the vMSR on the iPad app does not connect.

Using a spare Airport I was able to get it working. I connected the Airport to the switch in the living room, and connected the IP2SL to this airport.

I agree with you that something is blocking the beacon. Because it doesn't matter where I connect the IP2SL to my LAN, I am able to ping it and open the webinterface. I just cannot connect to it with vMSR or iHelp.

iHelp/vMSR will not discover the IP2SL over a wired or wireless connection, when the IP2SL is connected to a switch. If the IP2SL is connected to an Airport and the workstation/iPad is connected to this same Airport wireless, then they will connect.

Is this a because of my network configuration, or is something else going on?

Also the new app doesn't find the IP2SL as quickly as the original. The original app was virtually instantaneous...

What switch do you have? Do you know if it is managed/smart or a basic switch?

Do you have Sooloos and if so, can you discover Sooloos with iPad core control if the route passes through the switch?

I know that IP2SL is recommended to use with VMSR but as I investigating to automate my system, I am wondering if I can use the GC100 with the VMSR?

This would allow me to use the IR ports to control my plasma TV etc. with my iPad.

I use a HP ProCurve 1810G managed switch.
And yes the iPad Core Control works just fine.

I dont know that switch but if you login and look for the multicast settings, make sure that something like igmp sniffing or treat multicast as broadcast is enabled. Or try a basic unmanaged switch if these are the instructions to enable multicast. Certainly not home user friendly (not that i suspect home use is the market the switch is designed for) which is why swapping out for a reliable unmanaged switch is imho the safest option.
