I have just bought an 818/MD600 combination from a fellow HH and have problems setting up MD600 and Control:Web.
- I have connected the ID41/MD600/controlling computer to the same unmanaged switch - I can find the ID41 and MD600 with the Sooloos config application - I can find the ID41 when typing in its IP address - I can sometimes find the http://{IP address}/debug page of the MD600 but I can not connect to the Control:Web link (when using http://{IP address} there is a message that the browser (Chrome or Mediafox) can not find the page) - When booting up the MD600 from the on/off switch on the back first the green and orange lights next to the LAN connection are on and after a few seconds the green light switches off. The orange light will then keep on blinking (the green light is off) - When searching for all LAN connections using a LAN scanner you can see the IP address from the ID41 with the label Meridian Audio Limited. For the MD600 IP address you see the label Pegatron Corporation. - The previous owner just got the MD600 back from Meridian as there was something wrong with the motherboard. The motherboard (or parts thereof) have been replaced by Meridian. - None of the lights on the front of the MD600 are on.
That is good, as you are running core on the MD600 I would now power all of your Sooloos kit off including the switch it is connected to, power on the switch then power up the MD600 only and give it 5 minutes to boot up to be certain it has come online.
Then power up the 818 with the ID41 connected to the network, then power up your PC and browse to the IP address of the MD600, you should get the Sooloos Control:Web screen.
Then if you click on the settings tab you should be offered the option of installing Control:PC, let me know how that goes please?
If I may add to the excellent advice already given by Russ:
It is worth also power cycling your Router (which serves the DHCP) at the same time as you power cycle the switch. The unmanaged switch should handle the local traffic between devices, however my experience is that after such troubles, routers often get in a confused state / run slowly until power cycled.
This way you know that you are starting from a clean base state.
I finally managed to get the Control:PC up and running. The only problem I now have is that I am unable to get music out of the ID41 or USB. I will double check tomorrow as most likely I have done something wrong in setting up the 818. I have included in the config file that there is a Sooloos system and it points to ID41 (designated to AUX/SLS).
I have been working extensively with Ratbert on the issues yesterday but unfortunately the sound problem is not solved yet. You can for example play music from Control:PC or the iPad app and change the volume from both control units. The 818 will also change its volume number to the same number as the control unit but there is no sound coming out.
We also went through the config file but that is now also correct (Master and slave on the config were different from the master and slave on the DSP7200s). I do already use a seperate switch for the Meridian system so that is not the solution for me.
It is just like I have "muted" the ID41 (i can play files from MD600 on my iMac).
I have just checked if the ID41 and the MD600 do communicate by playing HD files. The display on the 818 changes from 44k to 48k or 96k so at least I know that the ID41 is receiving information from the MD600 and forwarding this information to the (display of the) 818. Sound would be a nice addition..
