That may have been the longest post ever, but what Anders said about the variously flexible ways of accessing one's collection was essentially what I (rightly or wrongly) assumed Sooloos would be like.

I'd love to see all the above with maybe a couple of extras:

1. Volume levelling revisited with no detriment to sound quality, which I believe was an early complaint of the method employed to achieve this.

2. Being able to swim in an artist (on C15 - don't know about the rest) from the album view instead of having to go back to the explorer view to get the option.

3. When shuffling a playlist, that the original playlist order is not then overwritten.

4. To be able to re-sort playlists at will between a host of options like date added, date recorded, number of plays, artist, album, genre etc etc.

5. To have C15 and iPad versions identical in look and functionality (including the full sweet of editing functions being available). I love to tinker and housekeep my collection and would much prefer doing it from the iPad while listening to my music.

6. To also have the web client look identical to the C15 - so I can use my Surface 2 as a C15 - or bring out a dedicated windows app that accounts for the widescreen presentation of the majority of windows tablets(compatible with windows RT of course).

7. Allow the user to specify full caching of the album art on the iPad for those that get an iPad just as an ultimate remote and are not worried amount filling the memory.

8. Allowing the iPad as a local zone and having multichannel support - thought I'd throw those in again for good measure.

9. How about 4K 3D video and Atmos support smile

That's me done for now. Thanks again Enno for keeping in touch.

Only a small point, but when I select shuffle in a playlist and then want to go back one track I can't, the shuffle works both ways and I go back to a random track, like a say not a big problem but if you are updating it anyway you might as well fix it?

Well I guess M is now full of ideas. What's the over/under on timing? Can we expect a Merry Christmas like last year? It will be interesting to see how M handles the legacy hardware. Can their processors handle the update?

Thank Anders, very well put.

I might suggest that Spotify (and to a degree Napster) is another useful model in free form linking. I especially like the "similar artists" box that can lead me on a wonderful magical mystery tour of music I might never have found. I enjoy the way my playlists can lead me to similar playlists published by other users, again leading me to new music.

There has been a paradigm shift in how we can possess music since Sooloos was conceived that now needs to be taken into account, streaming services, downloading, curated radio services etc. all need to be considered as one along with our 'physical' music library. I want suggestions for more music to listen to whether I currently own it or not, it should be seamless. I still use Spotify regularly for casual listening because of this feature.

Similar artists is very good, but is also available on other streaming services (I moved from "320kbps" Spotify to lossless Qobuz). I use this feature a lot.

Would like to see

1) Spotify integrated into Sooloos as its streaming quality is better than Napster.

2) Track level artist detail to handle compilations (bringing Sooloos up to quality of Sonos, iTunes etc. in this respect).

I'm replacing my "vote" on Spotify integration and putting it on WiMP integration because they run lossless and that is what we want here for streaming.

If the size of the WiMP service is considered to be too small then I guess it's still Spotify that needs to be supported.

Rhapsody does not add any value as far I know compared to Spotify and is now a much smaller service. 2 million paying subscribers and 32 countries.

Spotify as of May 2014 have 40 million users with 10 million paying subscribers. Available in 57 countries last time I checked.

As far as I understand, Spotify does not allow integration into someone else's interface: you have to use their own interface. This is a non-starter for Sooloos, as far as I can see.

A few months ago I replaced my Spotify Premium subscription with a Qobuz lossless one...
