Thank you, my system was expanded (2x MS600 AND 3x MS200) on the basis of "iPhone in pocket", or to-hand at least. Would be disappointing that this wasn't fixed. However, I also appreciate it'll take a few days. My toys can stay in my pram, for now! I'd be inclined to get vocal and grumpy with Apple if the dropped wifi thing was known in the beta testing and they haven't fixed it yet, rather than Meridian, where you've had only a weekend to look at an unpredictable error...

I have to agree with Carl that the iPhone app needs fully reworking or replacing. Naim isn't perfect, but if you look what you can do with an iPhone on their app, it's far superior.

What is going on over there?

Whilst iOS8 may have been announced like 6 months ago, it's largely an initially unstable and certainly not fully featured release until the latter parts of the beta if that. Functionality that may give future iPhone specifications away such as screen resolutions are closely guarded even within development beta.

Add to this an often mandatory upgrade (but not necessarily backward compatible) of development environment when using beta versions will put many developers off from testing their app on beta until beta 6 (Early/Mid Aug) or Gold Master (Early September).

I'm sure that many would be pleased that people like Enno are spending their time casting their mind forward to new things rather than getting distracted with 6 months testing with moving goal posts of what may well be a 'legacy' app.

A different story if Meridian were a big software house, but they are not. IMHO.

Spin it anyway you want to but the fact is M should be ready to go with a new OS release or be done with it.

Beta 6, GM, or whatever, the majority of my 100 or so apps updated just before or just after the iOS8 release so is there really an excuse for M?

And do you actually know what Enno is spending his time on (time I assume is remunerated by M)? If you do please do tell so we are all in the loop here.

And we are right back at a major issue with M. If you want to be successful with a product like Sooloos you have to have the software. To have the software you have to have the resources, something M has since day one with Sooloos chosen to ignore or place elsewhere. Not a good scenario if you are a Sooloos owner.


It's been years of "different story if Meridian were a big software house" slack doled out by many of us.

Isn't it time that sort of talk stops and we start asking for proper accountability from M?

Meridian not being a software house may be correct factually. I don't believe it's relevant to the principle involved. We are talking high priced products with a fair few pretensions. Customers should have slick control apps with regular development.

I'm not criticising M specifically over getting caught out with the bug that started this thread. That happens to the best. Hopefully it will be sorted quickly.

However, I don't think there can be any acceptable excuse to neglect app development on either phone or tablet. Hopefully that is not the case and they have something cooking.

Actually I wonder how many of the rushed updates for iOS8 will have a second update pretty quickly afterwards to unmake some of the mistakes made the first time.

Well I have to say I am very pleasently surprised M have commented so quickly and directly on the forum promising to address the issue.

I take it may not be what we should expect at the price point we pay, but it's another sign of the huge positive change in direction M took after starting to engage with us again.

So for that I am thankful and am eagerly awaiting a fix - and you never know, it may even come along with a suprise or two

Yes indeed, Spin it anyway that YOU want.......but Meridian are just one of the many iOS Developers that have problems with the final "gold" release of iOS 8......which actually only went official last week......[not 6 months ago]

But what is most ironic of all in this "Apple is Nirvana" commentary is that there is one iOS Developer that has MANY more problems than any other Developer........the name of that company???.......APPLE!!!

Is it any wonder that given Apple's catastrophic early releases of iOS 7 last year.......combined with the myriad of problems with iOS 8 this year......has led to the slowest adoption / installation rate of iOS in the last 5 years??.........and has led to the type of articles linked to below.......and of which, there are many, many more

Perhaps the next time before you point your typical firehose of blame at Meridian, it would be worthwhile to do a little research first on where the problem really lies......i.e. at Apple not Meridian

Yet Naim have managed to consistently improve their app under the same circumstances. More significantly from my point of view is that the iPhone experience has been richer for a long time in this respect. There's never perfection with these things and they are all 'works in progress'. I hope and believe that M are stepping up to the plate behind the scenes regarding this. I certainly feel that things are on an upward curve, which is the only reason I have chosen Sooloos as my main streaming system. I just hope that the iPhone experience doesn't continue to suffer because the iPad app is the only one being improved.

Naim's app may not exhibit any problems......but the reality is that major players like Facebook (all apps), Microsoft, Twitter, Dropbox, Google and many Games apps have all documented DISPLAY issues with iOS 8

Something else worth considering.....the Sooloos iPhone App has worked without any issues on all the various updates to iOS 5, iOS 6 and iOS 7

So Apple decides to make last minute changes to display functionality within iOS 8 [primarily driven by iPhone 6 display requirements].......manages to screw up the display of many Apps from the major players, as well as the Meridian iPhone App.......and somehow Meridian are at fault, and not Apple???

And just as we are on the topic.......does anyone want to guess at the number of Apps that currently display Natively on the iPhone 6's, i.e. at native res and without any Scaling or Zooming??

Less than 15 as of today........yes <15 out of the several hundred thousand apps on the App store
