That's the problem, it may break something and will not work.
Just don't do it.

I just tried removing the STP cable between the switch and MS200/F80 and it seems something was lost. Re inserting it brought things back to life.
I can't put my finger on what has changed, it has never sounded anything less than great and it could just be a trick of the mind but for almost no cost the STP stays.
Does anyone know if longer or shorter runs are relevant here. I have a 5 meter length (4.00 at car boot but it is a nice blue braided cable) but I can get a short length if it helps.

Not broken = No regret might be a better starting point?

With the feedback from 'Kingsrule' on his 818/ID41 and Giso GB I have now ordered a Giso GB as well for my 861v8/ID41.

I'm a bit sceptical because I think I have done alot to have better PSU's on connected equipment, but there are exceptions ofcourse where I can not really do much about it (NAS, Cable modem, PC). I will connect the Giso:

LAN Switch->AQ Vodka RJ45 5,0m->GISO GB->AQ Diamond RJ45 0,75m->ID41.

So this will be interesting.. smile

That will be interesting...

Exotic AQ LAN cables Crion... May I ask what cable you use for SpeakerLink connection?

Sure, for front three speakers I use Furutech LAN-10G and the surrounds and back speakers I use Meridian SL cable.

When I started with SL the Furutech was early with cat6a and I'm not throwing them away just because the AQ Vodka is a bit better.. smile

One thing about the AQ Vodka as you know is that it's a bit thick and M SL cable is thin and easy to run/hide under carpets.

Thanks...

Interesting that you use much high-end (diamond) for LAN connection, but using rather normal ones for SpeakerLink.

Something I might want to try~

AQ Vodka and M SL are good choices. AQ Diamond is for when you want to push something past the norm on short distance cables. But it's very expensive and I wouldn't want to recommend it unless you can do a free trial with no obligation.

This thread makes very interesting reading.

I've got an 808v5, DSP7200s and MD600 feeding ID41 card in the 808v5. I have a long (20m good quality CAT7) run of Ethernet cable from MD600 (other side of the house) to the ID41 card.

Kingsrule, your findings with the GISO GB sound very impressive! Where did you buy yours from? Searching here in the UK, the only source looks like Acousense themselves and it looks like you can't buy the isolator directly from their website. UK pricing will be different to US, but what sort of money did you pay for yours?

More generally, does anyone have thoughts on whether a LAN isolator like the GISO GB might give me significant improvements in sound quality in this situation?

Thanks
Dave

Just theorizing but in reading the GISO product description on the Acousense website they seem to talk more about the benefits in an analogue system. Kingsrule has analogue speakers. Could it be that the shielding on the ID41 doesn't extend to the analogue outs? I would be curious to hear what SQ differences, if any, there would be using the GISO in front of an ID41 and DSP speakers. I stand ready to be corrected.
