Hi Carl, I've also heard that some people have added/increase toe-in to compensate for the effects that the new DSP firmware/EBA has on their system. I already have toe-in on my speakers and they have 'not' been updated to the latest firmware/don't have EBA. My ears tell me something is different in my system with just the 818 firmware update. I was not expecting any change in sound with a processor update, so no psychoacoustic demons at play here To bring the sweetspot back, I have to do the opposite... 'reduce' the toe-in or move the speakers closer to me or move my seat closer to them. As I listen to my system everyday, it was obvious straight away. Just highlighting the fact that even processor/source firmware updates are worth doing separately to DSP firmware updates... just as a precaution to eliminate unknowns. Everyone's systems are different but this is what I find in mine, so just feeding back to maybe help others. This may have similar effects on other items that are due firmware updates. Still a very happy listener Darren

Is it applicable to DSW, since their driver faces down too? Interesting! I don't know. Perhaps Meridian could chip in here?

Room height is just for the M6, it won't do anything with a DSW.

I just installed 3.53 and its definitely different sonically.
Has anyone noticed the volume level on your sources is now lower at the same volume number setting vs. the previous firmware? The only thing I changed was the startup volume setting...

...definitely different sonically. Anything different sonically besides volume? Your signature suggests you don't use DSPs, so I'm guessing you're not talking about the sweet spot having moved either. Soundserge

I have also noticed that to obtain the same listening volume, I have to add 4 or 5 extra to the displayed volume.
Not an issue, just an observation.

Somethings up here.
Not as dynamic, dimension, air, depth all gone...
Does anyone know if I can revert to the previous firmware without any issues?

Refer go my knowledge, just load it it up. On my 861/800 I have done that many times.
If the system hang up, wait a minute and then try again.
In my case changinging the Baudrate to higher values up to 50k seems to help-but I know thats not logic...
Maybe you should try first to install 3.53 again and hear if something happened then?

Was the DSPC a new version for 818v2? Check the dates. Your listening findings sounds like when you change the digital gain from 0dB to -4 or -5.
To know that we need to measure it. Voltmeter or record digitally to a computer with the two firmware versions.
If the height control computation is done in speakers like M6 then there shouldn't be any reason to add digital processing headroom in the 818v2(?)
Before all this just ensure that you have typed (reset) the 818v2 and then do a store of your saved config. Also check the speaker gain control (dB levels) in MConfig.

818 doesn't have Trifield, so as far as I'm aware there wouldn't be any DSP-C file. Also no way to adjust for speaker size/distance, etc., as there would be in an 861.
Could this be something to do with EBA processing of some kind?

EBA, SpeakerLink, all gone in setup on the 818. I was thinking it was due to how I have the 818 setup in MConfig... analogue amp and speakers, same Config file all along.
With previous firmware I could turn SpeakerLink on or off in Setup menu...
Not sure what is going on.

The Setup menu has been disabled after the firmware upgrade, but easy to enable again. Put the 818 in standby mode and hold the SETUP button in front of the 818 for 3 seconds. Here you can enable most of the settings. Good luck
