Just re-read this. I thought you meant hide all non-performer credits with a single click, but I don't think you meant this... A global setting to select which you want displayed would be very nice.

I currently have to do this also, one of the reasons for true track level metadata is it will (hopefully) allow a true artist/composer differentiation, which should bypass this kind of fudging?

I can see why you might want the information displayed thusly, but it's in contradiction to the way AMG arrange their metadata, and therefore how Sooloos until now has organised its database.

I wonder whether it would solve your problem if you could choose to browse single-composer albums by composer? In other words, changing the way such albums are displayed. This is something I've always missed in 2.1.

Totally with you on that!

That's just bad metadata...

+1, but you would also need to cope with Various Artists classical albums - an abomination, I know wink

Enno,
I would love to use moods, but as you pointed out, at the album level, it's not at all practical.

I think the only meta-data grooming/customizations that I would want to retain are:

- I remove composer credits from music that is not classical, jazz or soundtrack/musical. This keeps the scrollable lists of composers down to a useable level.

- I similarly remove label info unless it is a label that I have some specific reason to use in a focus. For me, this means removing almost all non-Jazz labels.

- Any preference meta-data (ratings, picks, tags)

In addition to track level meta-data, the top wish for my household would be something like accounts, so that my wife could set track/album level ratings and picks separate from mine.

Thanks VERY much for listening and participating on this board. It is a rare developer that effectively manages this level of contact with end users.

Enno

These are important:

Track level metadata

All three platforms (Control:Web, Control:Mac/Control:PC and iPad apps work the same. For me, I prefer the Control:Mac application.

Able to set the min. resolution that would be downloaded for artwork.

Being able to type in the album label correctly and/or have it download correctly (Upper case, lower case, etc.)

Agree with you on moods. You have a lot more basic things to work on.

All features are backed up.

Some kind of auto backup function like Time Machine.

Being able to select how multi disc CD's are displayed. (Release date priority sometimes is not acceptable.)

Full disclosure on what all the features/issues are on all the different Sooloos pieces. Same with updates.

Move the updates back to the end user and away from the M dealers.

Being able to set the way things are displayed by genres with the complete Sooloos collection (Classical one way, Jazz another, Rock another, etc.)

Sooloos updates are automatic, not sure what you mean by this.

I'm guessing that Kingsrule is referring to HW updates (processors, speakers, etc.)

This thread is specifically about Sooloos development rather than wider Meridian hardware and firmware development.

However, the point Kingsrule makes is valid wrt the latter. We (HH admin) have discussed this with HQ and we found them to be very receptive to the suggestion that there are other ways to achieve good firmware distribution.
