I like a lot of this, seems like a good working list! I am definitely on board for

1) Better multi disk handling.
2) Better classical classification
3) Consistent functionality across platforms

I would add,

Integration with Rhapsody and possibly buy it now option. Search for ARTIST and it shows what you own and then what is available on Rhapsody and an option to add to play list. Then if you decide you like, you can buy and download.

Hardware ripping function. Taking a page from Naim. A box that let's rip a CD into Sooloos, without computer. A box that can handle volume, not the laptop drive in C10/C15.

Regardless of the platform, a priority for me would be track level metadata. A whole raft of improvements could then be made on every platform in terms of better handling of particularly classical music, etc., which can't really be done until it's properly there.

In terms of iPad/iPhone apps-

- A bug fix on the iPad for separate works not showing up indented (which makes them all appear as one work, often by a different composer) on the iPad.
- An album browse facility on the iPhone similar to the iPad complete with album art - I find I visually find albums much better from their covers - (the iTunes remote app also has this).
- All of the app icons/buttons, etc optimised for Retina screens.

That's all I can think of right now...

That would be the Import:4. It probably needs Control:PC.

Check out Page 14.

Most important for me is backwards compatibility with the investments I have already made in Sooloos, also continued support of existing format.

Hi VK
Perhaps you can offer (maybe at a later date) more information, on for me an embryonic, possibly contentious subject.
Change will happen, but I would not like to be left in the Sooloos slow lane, pending further investments. C15 is at the centre of my system but will this still be relevant and practical in the future?
Apologies for using the question to answer your request but this stems from lack of knowledge on my part.

METADATA
- I'll add my vote for metadata editing in Core Control on the iPad: track names, track picks, album rating, genres, credits (the last two with a consistent and searchable browser). Maybe a password is needed before editing is allowed given that anyone on the Sooloos network can launch a Sooloos app and control the core.

- nice to have: separate metadata field for recording date in addition to release date

PLAYLISTS
In all apps that interact with the library - an option to add any track or album to any playlist (not just the queue that's currently playing) at any time.

Hi Hector. I understood what you meant about your hardware purchases remaining relevant, but I still don't understand what you mean by "format". Sorry if I'm being a bit slow here...

+1 for hardware purchases remaining relevant.

Also, if there were any update to allow track level metadata it should revise existing Soloos albums as well as apply to newly imported ones. Re-ripping or re-importing existing libraries again would seriously suck, life's too short.

Okay, a couple more:

- Accounts - my wife and I have very different tastes in music, but we only have one set of track/albums picks. This makes making your music set relevant impossible. At least from a data model point of view, this is pretty trivial.

- More album sorting options. It would be handy to be able to sort albums by attributes like the star rating.

Hi all-

My name is Enno Vandermeer, and I founded Sooloos with Danny Dulai ten years ago. I've lurked here on and off over the years, so I wanted to introduce myself properly and get out into the open smile

As you all know, the Meridian Sooloos products haven't had the care and feeding they deserve over the last few years. What you may not know is that Danny and I (and the original dev team) haven't disappeared or been hibernating; we've shared many of the views in this topic since 2.1 shipped, and have been laying the foundation of a brighter future.

You'll be hearing a lot more from me over the coming weeks and onward from there. I want everyone to know that no opinion stated here goes unnoticed, and that your input is hugely influential in shaping our ongoing work (which is indeed a thing).

I'll start sharing some of that later this month.

Enno

Thank you Enno. Thank you for acknowledging the concerns that some of us have and thank you for giving me hope.

Good luck with shaping a brighter future for Sooloos!
