Sooloos usability was one of the reasons - only a small one why I turned away from the overall solution. It was too slow and sluggish compared to an alternative 5 app
JRemote that does 85% the same thing and 25% different / more.

It definitely needs updating from memory and I think would be a good thing fir the future of the solution overall - the market is fierce smile

Sounds like someone should start a thread:
'Sooloos app revamp what would you like to see'

Main system - Sources (Kodi-HTPC, Vero 4k, FireTV, Sat) into Trinnov Altitude 32 (8-16) (+Roon), Trinnov Amplitude 8 amp & Vivid Audio (Giya G3, V1.5) and REL Stentor III speakers. Others: F80 + Raspberry Pi and other Pi systems.

I would like to see full screen artwork, obviously track level metadata and a more complete API.

Oh, and more robust discovery of core and/or manual IP address so it is immune from multicast filtering.

+1 on the full screen artwork

If we can't easily get track-level meta data, how about as well as the front image - the option to see a high-res back cover image (so at least once you are looking at the album, you can see who did what track)

Attach a PDF file, which can then be viewed much like the album review.

Personally I don't think it makes much sense displaying a graphics file much bigger than the size it was designed to be viewed at. Therefore I am for 12cmx12cm as the maximum size to be displayed. YMMV.

PDFs are a must, IMO!

I'd like to know that it was being developed and be disappointed by delays (comes with the territory) rather than be mushroomed (kept in the dark etc).

Whilst probably not high on other people's wish list, I'd like to see more info displayed for Internet radio channels (artist/track, bit rate) where available from the broadcaster. I'm kind of used to the Naim NStream app, which is good in that respect.

My two primary wishes for the iOS app are:

- Functionality parity for the other interfaces. It's more than inconvenient to not be able to do something as fundamental as set a track as a pick/neutral/non-pick while listening using your device. In my case, setting a track pick means pausing the music, going to a different room, launching Control:Mac, finding the album, editing the album, finding the track, setting the track value, saving the album, closing Control:Mac, returning to the listening room, and then unpausing the music. That's CRAZY for a system that's supposed to be high-end-convenient!

- A general usability study would eliminate countless unnecessary steps in the flow of using Control. One small example is setting a focus on a genre:
1. Tap the focus button
2. Tab Genre (at this stage, you have no focus criteria, so there's no reason to go to the intermediary menu that shows a list of genres in the focus, but you are taken there anyway. Why not go straight to the list of genres (which probably ought to be an expandable hierarchy, rather than the entire list of 800+ genres that must be scrolled every time).

As usual with M, top notch music experience, completely idiosyncratic UI.

While fixing these kinds of things from a development and testing point of view is somewhere between non-trivial, and not too bad, it would require that M look outside itself for common UI design patterns.

Sorry if this came across as somewhere between a suggestion and a complaint.

Would be great in a thread like this if people could specify which app they are talking about (iPhone, Core Control iPad, Control:10, Control:PC/Mac).

No problem, constructive complaints are fine.
Unconstructive complaints are also fine.
It's repetitive often out of context "Soap Box" complaints are that are frowned upon.

Carl
