Attempting to perform my very first backup ever (to restore to a QNAP NAS), I have run into the very same problem as the OP.

I set the app not to nap and created a 30 second video from the MacBook Pro camera that I set on a loop.

Not sure which one did the trick but I've just completed about 175 of 500 albums when before I couldn't get through more than about 10-15 before having to restart the process.

Thanks for the tips

G

Hi

Is your Mac connected wirelessly or wired to your network? Wireless has been known to cause issues.

Wired for this exercise as I did research to find the reliability issues with wireless.

It really is an issue of the app either sleeping or not responding after a while. A few times I came back to the app and all that was there was a spinning gear attempting to reconnect and an external HD burning up. No way to click anywhere including any tabs.

Even though I was playing the clip loop, I believe that simply telling the app not to nap would have solved it.

Hi Russ

I note that the Program is compatible thru 10.8.

As you likely know, 10.9 Mavericks had quite a number of (mostly very useful) battery and power saving measures built into the OS... especially as regards apps running in the background.

I think it might be worth choosing 1 Track for the Queue... and then place that Track on Auto-Replay... sound to the built-in output and muted obviously.

Then start the Backup process... and leave the Mac with Control:Mac as the foreground app.

I know this issue has been going on before Mavericks, but it may be worth experimenting with turning off AppNap

I just wanted to add to this relaying my frustrating weekend trying to restore using Control:PC. For some reason I suddenly discovered that the import Date for all my 6300 albums got changed to Dec 28, 2010.

I rebooted the entire system and still the same so I imported a few new CDs and for those the current date showed. I then proceeded to restore a couple of albums overwriting the ones on the hard drives and the import date information from my back up showed up as correctly.

I then thought that I could just resolve this by restoring my entire library. Mistake ... as it went through restoring about 500 or so albums and then just gets hung up and does not proceed. I have tried multiple times and the same result it goes through a couple of albums and then seems to hang up. I reset all the power settings on my computer not to sleep or turn the hard drives off, still no change .. can anyone help?

Sorry I have no specific suggestions but have you already contacted Meridian / Sooloos support?
