Once again I had a system crash and lost all my work for playlists. Jeez. Anyways, backup restored fine but of course no playlists. It takes me WEEKS to recreate those lists. I remember at a point seeing in Control:PC I could import iTunes playlists but never did, not a fan of MP3. Now I need a quick fix for these playlists and my iTunes library has them.

So I tried to import them and what do I find? Control:Mac does not provide me the option to import iTunes playlists!
Really? Why does this have to be so difficult?

Is there anyway to import my iTunes playlists? I do have Windows machines but the iTunes master library is on the MAC so they only share the library, not have access to import it.

I do have VMware on the Mac but I can't seem to figure out if it is possible to access the library from that to do the import, currently it does not. I have the iTunes media folder set to share but it still does not see that folder. I am just an tired of rebuilding these playlists.

Thanks for any direction.

Search the forum for playlist info by Ronnie. He has posted a few times on how to do this.

System crash again? What are you referring to here? HDD crash or something else ?

Cheers

Not exactly sure what went wrong this time. I replaced the M Audio Card (in the Ensemble) as it was acting up and had been a known issue. Doing that resolved the problems I was having. However, I was still having issues getting it to connect to the network or if it did it would not see the HD in the system. If I pulled the HD it would connect just fine so I replaced the HD again (last time about 18 months ago) and that seems to have solved the problem leading me to the restore project.

Such agony could be avoided if playlists were backed up. I just don't get it. Now I have to live with MP3 files for my swims. Ugh. I just don't have the time to invest in rebuilding the lists.

I will do the search. I tried searching but found nothing before posting however not specifically for his posts.

Thank you.

I think a Spare 2Tb Drive and one of these guys will spare you an awful lot of hassle and time for the future.

Simply turn off your Ensemble... remove hard drive... insert drive into Position HD1 Slot of Cloning Device.

Insert spare 2Tb drive into HD2 slot.

Press the "Clone" button.

Come back about 2 hours later and your entire Sooloos Drive (Albums, Tracks, Playlists etc., etc.) are completely backed up.

Reinsert original drive into Ensemble and turn it back on.

Now if the original Drive goes belly-up, you simply put the Cloned Drive in and you're right back in business straight away.

Worth repeating the Cloning every month or so to keep everything up to date.

There is also a way to use something like FreeFileSync to keep your Sooloos Store cloned onto a separate Drive or NAS every 24 hours, but would suggest the above as a first step in your case.

Thanks Ronnie. That is exactly what I'm going to do. Well worth it. I did finally find a way to at least get my iTunes playlists imported through VMware and using Control:PC. Good temp fix but I will once again rebuld the playlists and go the cloning route.
