I'm trying to figure out if it is possible to have one speaker setting for music modes with center speaker enabled, and one without. Switching from remote once setup.

I cannot find a way to do this i the Mconfig program.

Hi Saster

I'm not sure you can, let me know if you find away.

What are you trying to do that you can't achieve with different DSP modes?

I'm trying to have one Trifield mode with and one without center channel...

I know you can set full phantom on PLII but I cannot find a similar function for Trifield.

Can't you just make a copy of Trifield and use that?

Sure, but how do I disable/enable the center channel in Trifield?

Apologies. I thought there was a setting that determined the number of speakers to use. But then again, does it really make sense disabling the center channel? I thought that the center channel was pretty much integral to the whole DSP.

Why on earth would you want to ? Trifield needs at least 3 front speakers....that's the point. If you want to swicth between 3 and 2, then use direct or another 2 speaker preset.

It's a bit like buying a car and wanting to know how to ride it like a bike.

Maybe I'm missing the point

Good point Nick! I agree...you need the center but some have center speakers that are not quite as good a match to the main speakers as matched speakers.

However, if you really want to do this then you could create a second type setting with center turned off. You can also set center off for music presets and keep center on with surround tracks all in one type setting.

Cheers,

Ron

Trifield without center is not possible, you cannot name it Trifield anymore..

I do not see a way to get sound out of the front and surrounds, and not using the center, besides configuring you have no center at all.
But than it is not switchable..

I currently have a center that is not of the same brand/quality as my mains, so I rather have a phantom center generated.

If you sit in right between the two speakers, I see no reason why Trifield should not work without a center. I prefer Trifield without a center over direct. I just wanted a quick way to enable center channel when I have friends over or not sitting in the middle.

I have never used types.. are they complety individual setups that can be changed with the remote?

Saster

I don't think you can use Types to do what you want - not easily anyway as this is a fundamental setup parameter

I don't have a centre, but like you I prefer Trifield to Stereo or Direct. I think even with 2 front speakers, the sound stage is more open and defined.

Suggest you start saving your pennies for a better centre speaker, or put your existing speaker in the cupboard.

Cliffs! Here I was respecting your views on cables, and thinking "he's got a point" about burning-in. Trifield without a centre? You've just gone and spoiled it now. [Linked Image from softronix.com]
