I was wondering how the EBA differentiates between the various tweeters. 7200s have v1, v2 and SE, three different tweeters with different responses but same firmware?

Same with 8ks.

Richard Hollinshead said that with all SpeakerLink loudspeakers, the capabilities of the speaker are known to the firmware. In other words, the correct code path will be applied.

Meridian have informed me that NO, the 8000.2 firmware mentioned above and released today, is NOT appropriate for the Anniversary 8k. It may or may not load, but will not include the right DSP and will not sound right. The same goes the other way round, if someone tries to load Anniversary EBA firmware into a pair of 8000.2 (or 8000SE).

Meridian is contacting the distributor responsible for supporting your system, and they will contact you in due course. You could also proactively drop them a line.

If you don't get any joy, come back to us.

I'm up and running with my 5200s (a threesome across the front).

Might try to watch a film later to check out the latency in my setup.

This is the info Meridian has given their premium dealers when it comes to Anniversary DSP8000 firmware.
So contact your Premium dealer.

Hi Guys,

If you have an Anniversary system you will have to contact your dealer (or they will contact you) and they will send the appropriate firmware for your system. The dealer will be sent this in the first instance from Meridian HQ.

We have just done this ourselves today to one of our Anniversary customers, the other has friends in high places and wasn't available to comment or receive smile

As discussed if you have non-Anniversary 8k's please do not install the Anniversary firmware if you get hold of it, it will not sound good frown

Hope this helps and happy firmware upgrading.

PS. EBA Firmware for 861v8 etc. will be hopefully available in 3/4 weeks.

Hi Guys,

Firmware for DSP3200, 3300 and DSW will be released soon not EBA but I know within the DSP3200 20ms delay.

I am sure Richard mentioned this at our event, might have to look at video again to see.

Rob.

Thanks Rob, I read DSW does indeed have EBA rather than a delay (Putting 2 and two together, less than 3/4 weeks for outstanding EBA updates all things being equal)?

"all SL speakers (apart from 420) will be able to do EBA (or match the latency, in the case of 3200/3300)" Ludwig here

I am puzzled at the apparent disdain for customers who bought the Anniversary - a premium version of the product. If I were M I would ensure that such distributors were pushed the new FW right along with the release without waiting for the customer to remind the distributor. Alternately that customers were able to download directly given there are so few of us and we are all identified. Certainly in my mind I deserve at least on-par treatment; certainly not second hand treatment. After all I am as eager as anyone to experience EBA!

I am very happy at the fact that there IS an firmware upload for EBA, but the last mile delivery failure has left me wondering whether at all it makes sense to buy any M limited release product, certainly not while living in India.

Shankar,

It's less that 24 hours since the firmware was released to the Meridian Partners.

You have a choice be a little patient and wait for your dealer to contact you (I'm sure they will and note most UK dealers are not open on Mondays) or be proactive and give them a call and ask for it (it will take 5 mins of your time). It's really about you and your relationship with your dealer.

Honestly I despair sometimes at peoples "Love / Hate" attitude toward Meridian. I know M are not perfect, who is ...

Regards,
Carl

Sorry Carl, but I think Shankar is right. Anniversary customers should have been given the red carpet treatment: personal contact; firmware before general release; a complimentary RS232-to-SpeakerLink cable; and assistance if needed. That they appear not to have been afforded this is scandalous IMO.
