I've left my old back up (3TB drive) in the IoW and am now trying to create a new back up on a 4TB drive.
I have two Macs, and the back up process now crashes Control:Mac on both. I've deleted and reinstalled Control:Mac on both machines, and reformatted the 4TB drive as well. Still the same.
Sadly the only XP machine I have is so old and slow it only has USB1.0 ports, which rather defeats the object of the exercise. That and I can't get it to load Control:PC from the Web browser.
Basically I'm stuck.
Is it possible to put the new 4TB drive into the MD600 and let the RAID copy the music across, then use the spare drive with the music on it to restore onto my TwinStore and Source in the IoW? I'm presuming that I cannot just insert the spare drive into the other system and let the Source find all my music automatically?
Sooloos, Roon, G series (with LPS upgrade), 800 series (with LPS upgrade), HD621, AC200, Prime and PS, DSPs old and new.
You should be able to put the new drive in the MD600 and let it fully rebuild then install it in the TwinStore, make sure the other disk in the TwinStore is formatted, if both disks have data then you may end up with the wrong result. Seagate ST4000DM000 4TB drives are proven to work in the TwinStore
And will the Source (acting as Core) rebuild the library from the drive from the MD600 (which is also acting as Core)?
Do I need to worry about the IP address of the MD600 and TwinStore, should they be the same (given they're in two entirely separate locations this is not an issue for me).

You may want to try a non_Sooloos approach to backup and sync.
Search my posts from a year or 2 back for the process I use.
It does not crash or have any funnies.
Essentially copy the full Sooloos library share from the MD600. Take that with you and simply re-sync it to your other unit. Use a data sync program to do that. I find freefilesync excellent for this purpose.
Once you've done the mother-of-all syncs everything thereafter is incremental.
Thank you. I had re-read the thread you mentioned as part of my research into the problem. I suppose my question was "Will the Source:Five pick up the sync files automatically?" Do I need to do anything about IP addresses etc?
My concern is that this is a different system, and not the same one as the original files came from.

Dominic

IP address is not disk related so that should be ok, the core in the MD600 is loaded from what is in effect a small SSD attached to the motherboard, the rebuild is controlled by the raid controller in the MD600 or twin store depending on which device is being used, it is simply a resync of the disk mirroring.
Computers should be reliable? I had an iMac before and could never make a backup. Then I bought a Mac Mini and could not make a backup. A couple of weeks ago I bought a MacBook Pro and at last it was possible to run a complete backup.
I have never had any problems taking my backup from my PC.
As an observation, I've been trying an incremental back up using my Mac Mini and a 3TB drive, and as usual it was crashing. I decided to sit with the Mac to see what was happening.
If you play a film on the Mac Mini at the same time the back up does not crash for the duration that it's playing.
