Thanks guys, I'll try those in combination, I think.
Is there a way to get dBpoweramp to look up the metadata on these files, as it would while ripping a CD?

Yes... you can point mp3tag at the Sooloos album folders and use to re-tag. Just make sure you do NOT rename the files. This is quite time consuming to do. Export and reimport for me was quicker.

Alternatively MediaMonkey might be a better bet for batch changes in Metadata (if you want to make wholesale changes without lookup).
Sooloos, Roon, G series (with LPS upgrade), 800 series (with LPS upgrade), HD621, AC200, Prime and PS, DSPs old and new.
Purdeys, Moke, Leica, 'Blad. Only the best.

Thanks, I tried a test copy of an album last night with Mp3tag since I already have it on the system, and it works very well, although thanks for the tip about leaving the file name, I didn't know that - that's just a Sooloos thing, right? I'll look up Media Monkey, not used that before.
Gotta say I'm well impressed with dBpa - I'm ripping simultaneously to alac, and simply dragging into iTunes creates perfect albums (even with track level metadata) every time, I've found it flawless so far. Sooloos is more finicky but it's still somehow less painful doing it this way and then batch importing when I have a moment. I really hope we get an update at some point which makes it as intuitive and simple!
Here's a thought, as well as my standard Sooloos backup, I think it might be easier to just backup my alac files - they contain all the metadata in a form most streamers should understand, and presumably alac is losslessly batch convertible to FLAC, or other formats, with dBpa music converter.
Cheers,
James

What do people do with multi disc compilations?
I just tried this for the first time yesterday using mostly previous dBpoweramp settings that, when a multi disc set was detected, appended the disc number to the track name.
So I got a track such as '1-01 The Eve Of The War.FLAC' and '2-01 The Red Weed.FLAC' which both resided in the same 'The War Of The Worlds' folder.
However, as the plugin renames the track names, this results in overwriting the contents of the previously ripped disc as everything simply becomes iirc Track1.FLAC
Im guessing that I need to append the disc number to the folder as, as well as the tracks themselves, the xml seems not to cope with multiple discs in the same folder.
But I'm not sure how to do this now as few years back, I set up dBpoweramp as I liked it and have not touched it since.

Anyone?
I'm probably being a bit lazy asking, but I did look yesterday to see if there was anything obvious. I don't use that PC much these days, but was hoping to have some pointers if I get time to fire it up over bank holiday.
I think the problem is the custom rule that I set up for track naming to include the multidisc number, but cannot see similar for folders.

Hopefully this answers your question, it is a long time since I ripped multi discs.
I keep each disc in a separate folder labelled Disc 1 etc. This avoided the problem I found with all tracks in one folder.
No custom rules used.

So for each disc that I rip, I need to manually create/amend the folders to keep the contents unique? No way to handle this automatically.
Using my previous example, I currently would get a folder called 'war of the worlds' or similar. So after first rip, I would say need to manually append '- disc 1' on the end, then after second rip, append '- disc 2'?
I can see that this would work but surely it should be a bit more automatic? I've forgotten what dBpoweramp does by default. I don't think I've adjusted anything since upgrading to R14 or maybe not even since before that.

Hi Ian,
Yes I kept the contents unique, but only had a few multi discs to rip, so this was not an issue.
To be honest my memory of this has slipped.

To be honest my memory of this has slipped. Thanks for your help. Sounds like we are both suffering the effects of time

Does the plug-in populate the "credits" page in Sooloos? (I suspect not.)

It does populate the credits, yes.
