Thanks everyone for all the info.

After a chat with Rick who has made a superb offer I have decided to go the extra yard and get a pair of M6's for the rears.

That will resolve all the EBA issues and give me better surround sound

That's one way round the problem smile. I'm actually surprised that more people don't use M6s as rear\side speakers

Main system - Sources (Kodi-HTPC, Vero 4k, FireTV, Sat) into Trinnov Altitude 32 (8-16) (+Roon), Trinnov Amplitude 8 amp & Vivid Audio (Giya G3, V1.5) and REL Stentor III speakers. Others: F80 + Raspberry Pi and other Pi systems.

M6's on the rears is the direction I'll be heading in as soon as madam stops being so focused on getting rid of my 7200HCSE centre...

I now have the SE front end and the M6 rears installed. Rick says they need a couple of weeks to settle in. So no comments yet on sound quality.

EBA is available on 2 channel music streams but not available on video streams fed though the HD621 MMHR connector i.e. Sky HD, Oppo BD103D.

This is in spite of EBA set to 'menu on all streams' in the properties of the 861, enabled for all presets in the DSP page of config and the front panel SpeakerLink set to 'as configured'.

I suspect that the 861v6 which has v8 firmware is automatically excluding EBA from multi channel inputs.

Both multi channel inputs are routed via HDMI. I do not know if they were routed via optical whether EBA would be enabled.

I don't see why EBA isn't available on multichannel, it is on my set up. It's set on the multichannel presets in Config. I the set SpeakerLink On and then you can toggle EBA on off via MSR. ( I'm away just now so I'm unable to double check but there's no reason why not?)

Many thanks will check EBA settings in config and report back. Do you have a surround setup with EBA enabled rears?

Checked my settings.

EBA is set to on for all DSP presets in the config program.

'Menu on all streams' is set in the properties for the 861

SpeakerLink is set to 'on' on front panel of 861.

Multi channel sources i.e. Oppo BD 103D and Sky HD+ are connected via MM from HD621. Both sources output multi channel.

EBA is available for music streams but not for multi channel through MM.

EBA is available for my French sat which is connected via optical for audio and outputs PCM 2 channel.

I am wondering whether the issue is with the MM connection from the HD621.

Any ideas?

Does the current processor firmware support multi-channel EBA?

Good question. Meridian recommend that EBA is not used for video sources so it may be that the processor disables EBA on any feed from the HD621

Will be checking this with Rick of Audio-Images later

I think it depends on your video delay. Some video systems add considerable delay and if the delay is the same as EBA's then there's no problem at all with using it for videos.

It should certainly be possible to activate it on multichannel sources (which after all, are not always video). If it isn't currently, I think it will in the forthcoming firmware.

Most video systems will probably be okay (for instance, I think I use 40ms audio delay in my Sky box in our living room). The main source of trouble could be low video latency "gaming" modes, such as I think is present in Lumagen video processors.
